What Jacket are you wearing?

I'm in dire need of new summer riding gear. I'm curious what jackets others are wearing. Since I do ride on and off road, I'm looking for something like a dualsport jacket. I purchased an Olympia Motorsports Phantom suit, but alas it doesn't fit my body right. So, I've got about $500 to spend. What do you guys recommend/wear?

I'd probably get a motoport mesh jacket if you can get over all the frumpy things about it. However with a liner its closer to $600.

For now I've settled on a Olympia Bushwacker mesh jacket. Its a pretty nice piece of gear, that I feel will protect better than other equivalent mesh jackets. It runs about $250 online, $270 in stores. Flows air pretty well, and gets very chilly below 70 without the liner. Waterproof, with lots of adjusters. Overall I'd give it a 2 thumbs up.

Thumbs up

Oh man. I just bought a Joe Rocket Meteor 5.0 jacket with all the armor and a zip out liner. I love it. I bought from e-bay for $75 bucks brand new. Honest. Now all I need are pants and I'm good to go. Dennis Kirk has a good selection too. Ride safe.

Joe Rocket, I've had it for two years, I like how it fits. It dosn't ride up in strong wind, and stops most rain.

BMW Streetguard 2

Bought it brand new off ebay for 311 ($420). The local BMW dealer was selling them for 759 ($1022).

During the HOT weather - mostly June through October here in central Florida - I wear Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh gear. It allows me to ride and not bake at the same time. Usually in temps below 85, I'll wear my Darien Light jacket and pants. Just too warm in the summer.

If I intend to ride off road a lot, I wear a ballistic jersey . . . . .

Shift Airborne mesh jacket for summer - fits me well, very flow-through, and has what seems to be pretty substantial armor at the elbows and shoulders. The back armor seems a little flimsy, however. All armor is removable/replaceable. Also was available in a primarily silver/grey rather than mostly black.

I got mine from Craigslist for $52 shipped - a Shift rep was selling his 2006 demos.

As for pants, I just got some Fieldsheer Four Season which are all silver (gotta repel that solar energy if I'm gonna wear all these layers!). Without the liner they do ventilate pretty well, but I've got to figure out where to adjust the right knee armor - it digs into the base of my knee cap which aches after awhile.
