All set for Alaska, pictures of my battle ready DL650

Okay, maybe not battle ready but it should make it to the Arctic Circle and back. Top box is a fiberglass military surplus case (totally waterproof) Panniers are military surplus aluminum mermite cans. I'm real happy with the SW Motech side racks, center stand, and crash guards. Also installed ROX risers, OEM heated grips, hand guards, Givi shield, gel seat with Aerostich sheepskin (not shown), and new Dunlop D607's. The little foot pads on the crash guards work good for me to rest my legs on. I painted the mermite cans satin black and made some bungee tie downs which are screwed to the lids. Tool storage tube is made from ABS pipe I rounded up at a RV shop.

I don't have it completely packed yet still have a couple small items to strap to the pannier lids, and a spare rear tire I'm going to mount on the top box. Leaving next Saturday the 2nd. It'll be me, two guys on GL1800's and a guy on a 650 BMW.

Have a wonderful trip. Are you going to stop at Kluane National Park and the Laird Hot springs? Both are wonderful places to rest your weary butt.

Hey, I recognize the mermite can on the right. I think I had Thanksgiving dinner out of it back in '69.

Have a great trip and keep us posted if you can.

I believe that I've seen you in the Eau Claire area.

That should be a wonderful trip. Pleas post route/lodging suggestions as I'll be making that run myself in '09 or '10.

Good Luck

Good Luck on your trip, I am also headed to the Artic Circle and mabe we will cross paths somewhere in the wild tundra of the north. Anyway if you see two Vee's and one Goldwing from California that should be us. We are leaving on the 31 of May.

Really nice setup!!!! I have thought long and hard about eventually getting hard side luggage. I have interest in the ammo boxes......did they mount easily to the Motech side racks? Best of luck on your trip, I'm sure it will be a memorable experience.
