Hunting on partial throttle

Howdy
Had 2002 model 1000 V Strom for 3 months/5000kilometres (26,000 total)
it seems I need to change the bikes ECU to sort the uneven running with throttle just open. There seems to be a few options out there wondering best choice of these or is an air filter and pipe change best.
Motor is obviously strong as I can out-run my brothers blackbird till about 160kph, just runs poorly with a small throttle opening, which is most of the time.

Have you done a TBS and a TPS? Might also try removing the secondaries.

Totaled on June 9 2012 08 Victory Vision Tour Premium.
No longer riding due to injuries on June 9 2012.

He he he...
Welcome to the forum JE.

Before Heavy finds you  , I'll tell you that TBS stands for Throttle-Body Sychronization. You'll have to use the "search" function to find the rest. There's lots been said on all subjects in previous threads.

Now that you own one of these beasts you're going to have to educate yourself.

All will tell you that these procedures are inexpensive (free, actually) to perform and will radically alter the performance of your bike.

Begin with the TBS - your most likely problem.
