Is the price right?

Hello all,

This is my first time posting, so I hope I have the right area for this question. I am looking at a 2005 DL 1000 w/6600miles. The asking price is $7800. Extras are CeeBaily tall windshield, GIVI Hard trunk and hard saddle bags, new tires with less than 500miles. Heated grips and throttle lock. Bike is in great condition. What are your ideas about the asking price?:???:

Hi kansas, Good to have you on stromtroopers. This is just my opinion so take it for what its worth. I think its a bit high. It sounds like what someone would "like" to get for it. For not a whole lot more.(couple hundred bucks) you can buy a 07 with NO miles. Thats if you refuse to pay the dealer assenbly/freight. They always hit you with $500.00 or more for add-on sales. Last fall the 1000(06) was out the door at my dealer for $8000.00. I went for the 650 and paid about $5500.00+tax+extra warrenty. I can't help but to feel you could find a brand new one out there for about the same. Then you get to break it in the way you choose, know all its history etc. You will have to buy your own accessories but then you can pick the ones you want rather then what was supplied to you. If you like the bike the way it is then see if they will drop the price just a bit. The prices at the dealer get a bit better as the year comes to an end so now isn't the best time to buy unless you can find yourself an 06' out there. No matter which one you choose though, I think you will have a great bike. Good luck. J.R.

Thanks for your input J- Even though I would love to have this bike, I too feel that it is about $1000 high. I'll have to ponder for awhile.

Thumbs up

Hi Kansas,
If you'll peruse the classified ads of this and the other vstrom forum you'll quickly find out what typical asking prices are for WeeStroms. Make a list of those for sale, their mileage, and their farkles (extras) and you'll see what the market looks like. Good hunting.

Any deal that you're happy with is a good deal. That being said, get a new one for a few bucks more. Just me.
