Mirror construction involves left hand threads on 2012+ 650s and 2014+ 1000s

It was suggested to make a sticky on Glee mirror information because it isn't in the owner's manual. In the spirit of a picture is worth a thousand words.........
It also applies to the Vee2 as was discovered later.
Cooter007 and StromFox like this.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Just to clarify, if you order aftermarket mirrors you don't need to order left hand threads because the perch is still right hand threaded. Is this correct?

Or, if you replace your mirror with a ram mount or something else, right hand threads will screw directly into the perch?

I would think the picture would explain things fully but I'll add that the black aluminum parts that accept the mirrors and are clamped to the handlebars have right hand threads. Take all the silver colored parts of the stock mirror off when replacing the mirrors.

OK, I do now, too. Thanks for checking it for me.

I was logged in when I made the comment. So, I logged out, logged back in, and then right click on tab and refresh page.

The refresh was the trick that got the picture to display.

Thank You.

Does anyone know what the thread size is for the mirror mount stud? (It's the chrome part with the right hand thread in the picture)
