Turn off power Commander?

Is there a way to temporarily turn off the power Commander? I'd like to see how my bike runs with the stock fuel map.

I've got a set of Leo Vince pipes installed and a K&N filter. Would the stock map run fine with this set up?

The power Commander came with my bike so I don't really know anything about it or the map installed. I'd like to try to get better fuel economy as I'm preparing to go on a long trip next week.

Download the program and instructions from the Powercommander web site and and hook your bike up with the USB cable.
The display will tell you the current map being used.
Installing the Zero map is the same as the unit being off.
Give it a try.
I bought my 05 Vee used with Two Bros. exhaust, and a TRE.
It was set up with a map for an 02 with K&N and an after market exhaust, don't remember which one. I went back to stock exhaust and tried every map I could find. I'm happiest with the zero map.
I don't know if the first owner changed anything else however.
I'm far from an expert, so you may want to wait for more experienced members to chime in. Plenty if info and maps to try here though.

you could just remove it. see how you like the ride, if not, reinstall. that's how techy i am. :bom_smart:

As stated, the Zero Map will essentially disable the Power Commander.

If you have a model which does not tune itself, the way to get the best results is to take your bike and have it dynoed by someone with the tools to tune the PC for best performance/smoothness.

I have PC III's on two of my machines. The track bike I had Dynoed, and it made a world of difference in smoothness, decelleration, and overall performance. The CBR I have on the street I loaded a generic map from their web site, and it took out much of the choppiness in the throttle, but it isn't anywhere near perfect, but its good enough for me. I don't have a PC on the Wee, as I run stock pipes there, and don't have any throttle/performance issues to solve.

If you have a PC5, I believe you can have two maps. You could have a blank map(same as stock), and your present map. You need to install a switch on the PC. Then all you have to do is flip it back and forth.
If you have a PCIII, the previous posts can be followed.

OK so I was digging in there and I found the pc5 cable. I couldn't get too close to it as the givi crash bars block access. I was looking for a loose plug, but it appears the pc5 has two plugs on the end. One plugs into one side of the stock connecter and the other where the stock connector plugged into. Leaving no plug unused..does this sound right? I want to make sure I'm unplugging the right things before I start digging in.

Here is a photo, I know it's kinda hard to see whats going on. From what I can tell the cable with the sticker on it is the stock cable and should plug into the cable that is going toward the front of the bike.

You do have it figured out correctly. I just uninstalled my PC-V yesterday after getting the new service bulletin ECU. The PC-V has 2 plugs that connect to the stock plugs after they are disconnected. This puts the PC-V inline to the original wiring. As stated earlier, you can also put a switch in the PC-V outputs to jump 2 connections to switch to a second map. If it's a zero map it accomplished the same thing as disconnecting the PC-V.

The map in the PC is written into nonvolatile memory. It doesn't change unless it is purposely rewritten. You don't need a computer for the process.

Just unplug the connectors and re-connect the originals. Should take only a few minutes.
Actually your bike has the set-up that I am working toward. Before I got too gung-ho on removing the PC-V I would plug (block off) the pair valves and then take it to a reputable dyno tuner and tell them that you are looking to get good milage along with a good AF ratio. With the Leo's they can reach way down in there with the sniffers (along with the blocked off pair valves) to get a good O2 reading. Just saying...if it were my bike.

Does it have a TRE?
