Ever wonder how tuff a V Strom can be? Specifically the clutch? Over on the Adventure Rider site, the Australian regional site is a true story of a Wee TOWING a 400kg KTM Adventure 1250 odd kms from the edge of the Australian outback to the East Coast.
Read it, it's true!!

Yes, the story was posted over there later in the evening after you started this thread and I posted the link to the Aussie section story here.

WeePilot has now added a link to the ADVrider page as well, great to see the cross sharing between these two great forums.

Impressive that the Wee can do the job, but I think it is even more impressive that the two riders managed to cover over 1,200 km's safely to get the bike home.

Reading the story, it is not quite clear to me if it is the sprocket that stripped (most likely) or the shaft that stripped (it sort of reads this was the case).

If the shaft has stripped the splines I wouldn't want the repair bill for it. :yikes:

Nothing seems cheap on the KTM's, and they do have some repeat issues across some of the model ranges, let's hope this isn't going to be a common one with them.

The more likely cause was that the sprocket wasn't fully tightened down when installed, or the lock tab on the nut/bolt wasn't bent over in to place properly.
