Do the DL injectors sense negative load and cut fuel off?

More curious than anything else, but I've always wondered if the strom's fuel injection is sophisticated enough to cut fueling on negative load - for example, when engine braking down a hill.

I'm almost certain that's what happens. Engine braking works nicely until the speed gets so low the engine will die without fuel.

I would think the only sensor that could do that is the throttle position sensor. If it's closed it is going to shut down the injectors, hence the huge engine braking the Strom has. GW might think otherwise but it makes sense to me.

I Don't Mean To Hijack This Thread, But...

Since we're discussing the Strom's FI... does the Strom adjust mixture for changes in elevation? (If it does, do all FI systems do this?) Does this require oxygen sensors, and do the Stroms have 'em?

FI systems have air pressure and temperature sensors that take care of mixture settings regardless of altitude. Oxygen sensors are emissions devices.

You say the right thing, oxygen sensor. The reason for oxygen sensor is act as feedback to the ECU, that continually ajust the fuel delivery in the cylinder to maintain the proper ratio of air/fuel. If my memory is good in automobile engine it is somewhat like 14.7:1 ratio (mass, not volume). So in less dense air the ECU compensate.

As far as I can see it does.

I played around with it in the past on my 2012 and it definately cut off, I think it was somewhere above the 2000 to 3000 rpm range and kicked back in in the 2000 to 1800 rpm range. (I know it did just can't remeber what rpm's it did it at.) If you close the throttle above, say, 2000 rpm with a warm engine while riding (lets say in 3rd) and don't touch the throttle until idle speed you can feel a very subtle little surge at the rpm it turns back on at. I am not sure where that was and it is subtle so you may need to try it a few times to be sure when it happens.
