I am new to the strom, but not new to motorcycles. Just bought mine a few days ago, I noticed that the oil level was a bit low so I added some. I went for a ride yesterday 30 miles or so, I went out to start it this afternoon and noticed that the check oil and the red oil light was on. the oil level looked low so I added a little more oil, the oil window on the side of the case is full but the oil light still goes on, any ideas what is going on?
If there is an oil can symbol and a red light while the engine is running, shut it off immediately to prevent further damage. If the key is on and the engine has not yet been started, the engine is not pumping oil so the red light is normal.
Thanks, I didn't remember there being one before.
All my other bikes are decades old and do not have such things, can you say learning curve. thanks again:thumbup:
I hope you had the bike on the center stand when checking the oil level. The bike has to be level. If you filled it so the glass was full on the side stand, you may be in some trouble. Hopefully that's not it.
On the center stand will read a little high and on the side stand will be terribly high. The bike is supposed to be on its wheels, on level ground and held vertically. I find it easiest to use the center stand and leave just a bubble of air in the window to fill.
