Is the factory service manual the same for all years? I've seen some for sale that cover 2002-2012 and some for specific model years. Just trying to clear up some confusion.
There have been some changes in suspension and electronics over the years. I have a 2007. My manual is from the 2002 KLV 1000 Kawasaki (basically a green Vstrom) with supplements. It works for 95% of my needs.
The mechanical parts have remained relatively unchanged.
The factory manual is much better than a Haynes or Clymer. But, the factory version presupposes you have some basic wrenching knowledge, while the others give you a little remedial help on things the factory version assumes you know.
The DL650 manual has supplements bound into the book for each year from '05 up to the year it was printed. For example, my manual has the white pages for everything, then blue pages bound in for the changes that relate to '05, '06, '07, '08, and '09. Later manuals will have more supplements for the later years up to '11.
