Hey yall,

So is there and where, a legitimate source of information for vinyl wrapping out bikes?

Seen a few bike on here and they look great, but what about it's durability? Do they stay on even when it rains? Pretty much vinyl over painting plastic

You looking to do it yourself or to have it done?

The high end wraps, like Avery Supreme and 3M 1080 to name just two are very durable-- under normal circumstances and periodic maintenance they are expected to last five years. In my experience, wrap around tight inside curves does not stick well in very high temperature (100+ degrees), but other than that adhesion is very good. There are some pretty wild colors and patterns-- I saw a dark red and black snakeskin embossed textured pattern on a bike that looked gorgeous. On my List of Things to Do Eventually I want to wrap the unpainted side panels and the plastic inside the cowling and around the instrument cluster to give a splash of color to an otherwise all black Vee. Even the anthracite carbon fiber is coo' although it's a bit played out.

As for a "legitimate source of information," the manufactures have brochures, installation instructions and tips, and even youtube videos that show how the stuff goes on. You can also google the meguiar's wraptivo instructional videos, some of which show in pretty good detail how to wrap small pieces.

Check out a company called Hexis. I think they claim 10 years on their car wraps. From what I hear the hexis stuff is a little easier to get on than 3m but that's just what I've read, I don't have experience with either. I'm thinking of doing their frozen matte gray over my black, I just need to find the time as I hear it takes about a day to do it right.
