The subject of a Riding proficiency forum has been brought up and I think it is a good idea. Maybe if there was enough votes to have one the powers-that-be would add one.

Would you like to have a Riding proficiency forum?

I don't see why such discussions can't be done in the general forum. People already have difficulty choosing the right forum to post in. When I need to move a thread, I often have to scroll down the page and search for the forum I need there are so many.

I'm generally not in favour of tons of forums for the reasons you state.

I do think this is a fundamental one.. I think that talking about skills like riding proficiency, handling the bike, safety, perhaps advanced riding techniques, all in one area could be a good idea.

There's lots for all of us to learn and discussions often make us think about stuff we either forgot or never knew in the first place.

Greywolf, why don't you create the forum, leave it there for a couple of months and see if it works?

If no one uses it, you can always close it and move whatever is in there to the Main forum.

Just my 2 cents.

Creating a forum is above my pay grade.

We have forums dedicated to all three types of V-Stroms, a forum for photos, a forum for off topic jive, a forum dedicated to female riders, a forum for suspension, a forum for gps and techie stuff, a forum for modifications, a forum for regional riders, etc... Certainly a forum can be created for SAFETY.

What is the downside to it? Really, what is the worry here? The only bad thing I could possibly see happening is that peoples opinions would get tossed around as fact, and feelings would get hurt, and some riders would get resentful and mean spirited. Name calling would ensue and before long everyone would hate everyone. Throw in a few "Alpha Males" to the forum and they would eat each other alive daily.

Come to think of it... maybe we should leave it alone.

It is good in theory, but it would be bad in implementation.

I think this can remain in the general forum. Anytime someone starts to discuss how to ride it usually seems to end up locked in disagreement.

Hey V-Tom,
I'm open to tips from other riders and enjoy hearing how they've avoided dangerous problems on the road. Thanks for bringing the subject up. I like the helpfulness of everyone on this site. If there was a thread or forum for this topic I would check it just about every day.

I can't take credit for bringing up the subject, I think "off1" shoul get that credit as I think he first mentioned it.. I thought a poll would help illustrate whether there was enough support for it or not.

Well the conjecture and personal preferences go on now but are scattered over the various forums. I am sure there is a lot of misinformation hidden in areas that othes have missed. If they were in one forum it would be easier for people that actually have a clue to help keep discussions on track and shoot down the misinformation.

another forum ?

I do like the idea of learning and sharing info regarding rider proficiency.
INMHO Specific threads are easier to follow than another dedicated forum.

I like the idea therefore I voted yes.
