Full Bore M 40 adventure tire report

I've put 500 miles on the Full Bore M 40 trail master adventure tire. I've run most of the 80/20 tires on the market, my favourites being the Anakee, for the long trips with many highway miles, and the Shinko 705 for local riding. 80% of the miles I ride is gravel....which is why the 705 works well for me.
The full bore is, IMO ,better in every way, so far. It's tread is "open" 4mm more than the Shinko and it has a different rubber compound. Off road. This thing hooks! It's hands down the best off road tire I've ever had on the bike. In road, it's profile works great in the turns and it balanced out with very little weight. Again, this tire makes me want to haul ass on fire roads...and I do. I highly recommend this tire for anyone that rides gravel and wants more traction. I think it hooks up better than the Heidi and feels 100% better on road........all for $90 shipped.

Measure it again. Heck, lay them on top of each other and line up the knobs exactly and you'll see how the side knobs . Also, u can call Full Bore and they will tell you it's gaps are more open.

1FnStrom I'm ready to eat a big slice of humble pie. Just went out and measured and took some photos side by side. The Full Bore's are indeed wider.

Not sure what I was doing when I mounted them, but apparently I didn't know how to use my calipers 2 weeks ago.

My apologies.

Once again, I really like the Full Bores and more so now that I know they are just a bit more aggressive than the Shinkos.

oh and some photos for proof:

(Full bore is on the right Shinko to the left)

First I have heard of the Full Bore.
Where are you guys getting them?

That is where I got mine too. Just a few bucks more than the Shinkos.

I haven't mounted mine yet and am still darksided. Waiting to take a couple days off work and go to town on the bike. Needs lots of upkeep.

good riding tire, poor mileage

I only got about 3200 miles out of the rear. they are a bit more open design.

Dang, thats not very much.

I'm curious as to lateral grip. The tread pattern has a similar angular gap like the new Karoo III. I have heard several reports that those angular gaps provide next to no lateral grip and actually cause the tire to wash out when on a side sloped track. Thoughts???

I wouldn't go by one guy's mileage....I've had a whole summer on my fullbores, and they're hardly rounding out at all...

I've really like my fullbore's this year - great dirt road blasting tire, and pretty good for a road tire when plonking in the actual dirt. I'll be getting another pair, unless someone comes out with a tire like this that hits that 25%/75% dirt/road combo.

I have like 2000 miles or so on mine. They are still at about 75% life left probably. They work good on gravel and dirt. Not as good as a knobby. But good enough for a more road oriented tire. I wish I could get Michelin t-63's in our sizes. Thus far they grip great in pavement. The only drawback is to me they felt "heavy" handling wise when I first out them on. Slow to swerve or turn in. They either broke in or I got used to them cause I don't notice it at all now. They track well and hold a nice line.

Well I ran the Full Bore. Think I was one of the first to do so. I have no idea how they would do on the 650 but I got about 4500 miles on mine and the back was done. At 7000 miles the front was cupped and junk and yes they were balanced same as my Metzler's that lasted 10,000. I would not buy another set of those or the shinko's the mileage sucked on both. They were both fine in the dirt if it was dry and loose or gravel. But the minute it starts to get even a little bit muddy you had better be on your toe's. My finding on these tires are you get exactly what you pay for a cheap tire. My Metzler's technically cost me less when I got 10,000 miles out of them and they did every bit as well in the dirt and better handling on the street. I have the K60 scout on now they kill the shinko/full bore in every category and I don't think I will ever look back. Yep they are expensive but ya get what ya pay for.

On Pavement in the wet I find them to be as good as the other tires I have run. They don't seem to feel any slicker then the fullbore/shinko's that I have ran. They howl about the same but seem to have less vibration as well. There was also never the funky handling issue that you have to get used too with the fullbore/shinko.
