Slime Power Inflator question

I've just bought a Slime compressor, and broke with long standing tradition by reading the directions. It says,"DO NOT run vehicle while compressor is operating. Engine must be turned off."
Why? It seems to me that with a small compressor like this, extended run times could really drain a battery,.....and what harm could running the engine do? Wouldn't an idling engine offset the drain without hazard?

It does seem the opposite of common sense and other inflators do say to run the engine. The only dangers I can think of are CO buildup in a garage, hot engine and exhaust burns and vibrating off a stand. These seem remote. Maybe a tech writer screwed up.

Two things: I have drained a motorcycle battery by running a small compressor and trying to seat a tough tire.

With the engine running, the voltage to the compressor is higher. Maybe it's higher than the slime is designed to handle.

"Those little compressors are like a fart in a windstorm anyway, not my definition of robust."

I'll keep my little fart and package of worms under the seat while you make phone calls for a flat out on the highway. :green_lol:

I took the plastic housing off my new Slime pump. Rolls up in a shop rag and hides under the seat very well.

Tmcgee,
Our tool tubes and underseats contain the same crapola trying to avoid the inevitable!:green_lol:
It's kinda funny, I've repaired half a dozen punctures in the driveway, none ever on the road.

That's why we carry this sh!t -- because as long as we do, we won't need it.
