It would be nice to have a forum dedicated only to tips and suggestions for improving the rider's safety skills and riding techniques. I've noticed that those topics are barely discussed around here and having a forum dedicated to that kind of things could greatly help improve all the troopers' riding proficiency.
This forum would essentially serve two main purposes.
1. Any member could start a thread with tips/suggestions/exercises to improve riding skills and others could reply to thank/discuss what the OP has said.
2. If any rider has specific questions about riding improvement, he can post his/her questions there and get responses/tips/suggestions from other riders.
It may not be brand-specific, but many Strom riders only visit this community regularly and we could all benefit from more information regarding safety and riding improvement.
There are plenty of other places to find that info. Too many guys will post here, and then I find them posting the same EXACT thread on other sites I visit as well.
Golly, I thought David Hough wrote the definitive word on motorcycling proficiency. You mean to say others may have some valid input too?
Who woulda thunk it?
One thing to be noted is that different people learn in different ways. The best teacher in the world may be useless at imparting knowledge in you if you don't relate to the way they teach; a different instructor or someone saying the same thing in a different way might be better for you or me.
I think it would be great to have such a forum here.
This is a great idea. A lot of members have been through training courses and could offer what they learned, where others have real world experience to share and add input.
One thing for certain, no training instructors will give away their secrets as they are trying to make a living out of it, so everyone else needs to share the details.
Not trying to discount hands on training. Nothing beats that.
Actually, most good instructors feel more than happy to share knowledge over online communities just because they know such knowledge can save lives. I've seen it many times.
What could be the harm having it? If we just help avoid one accident we are already ahead. Not everybody hangs out at multiple sites. I basically go only here, if I have time to go anywhere.

+1 - Those are all great points and exactly what I'm thinking also.
1). There is no harm in having a "Safety Forum" added within this website.
2). Many people (including myself) only participate in a few websites each day/week... so why not include this very important subject with it's own featured forum.
3). If just ONE person learns ONE thing that prevents ONE wreck (or worse) than the "Safety Forum" will have been worth the efforts.
4). Safety first... lets not be satisfied with posting links to other locations and calling the topic "covered".
I'm all for it. As others have mentioned we all learn in different ways and if it helps one person I think it's worth it.
I know retention and comprehension depends on my frame of mind at the time, focus, distractions and repetition. Often the same subject discussed by others at a different time provides valuable information or a different perspective.
I spend most of my time on this forum anyway. If a safety post came up in recent topics I would read it.
I don't go out searching safety related posts just to find them. I get reminded about safety when someone else brings it up or when I have a close encounter. I would rather have more of the former experiences.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
