February Get Together?

It seems like I try to swing a trip to FL each February. Something about needing to escape the Indiana cold. By any chance are the Florida Troopers having another get together in February? Maybe mid to the end?

It feels much like Indiana here and now!

Hi, Brendan. Yesterday I got busy at 5:30 AM, and had to scrape lots of frost off the windshield of my truck. I was glad I had a genuine Canadian Tire Ice Scraper to handle the hoary task.

But Florida will surely be warm in mid-February.

I think that Curtis, aka weestrom05, is hoping to organize a ride in February, centred on Florida's panhandle, which is not how we indigent Stromtroopers earn money, but rather the western part of our state.

Two questions occur to me:

Which part or parts of our state do you wish to visit?

Will you need to borrow a Strom?

My Strom is yours, provided the ride is near Sarasota, for two reasons: you'll probably need to come here to get it, and my other ride is a 125, which can manage 60 MPH but not much more.

If Curtis does not pipe up soon, I will nudge him.

Best wishes,
Keith

mid februrary

Brendan, let us know when and to what part of the state you are going to be at and we will plan a ride based on that info. We have been talking about a panhandle trip but at this date nothing is set in stone. Curt{weestrom0}

The Panhandle is easy for me. I have "connections" in Destin (I think everyone from Terre Haute, IN does via Ray Feiler) I am leaning toward the end of February. Probably drive the TT as I will focus my "adventure" on photography. What I am thinking now is arrive on Friday evening. Spend the weekend in the panhandle area, then work my way to the Bradenton area to stay with a friend. Then on to Cape Corral to shoot (photograph) the Burrowing Owls. Maybe venture over to the Keys for a day or two, then travel North along 1 stopping at the various wildlife refuges. Wrapping up at St. Augustine the following weekend. Any thoughts?

If there is a ride on either weekend in the panhandle area I will make that my starting point. It would be good to see everyone (and some new peeps) again.

Feb ride?

Great to hear from you to Charlie! I guess we need to set up a ride for the big boss while he is here. I've been working six days a week and I am over it. Let;s ride. Bob

Terre Haute tale -- it's true!

www.ridetherock.com
is a very fine site for bikers in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The busiest rider and poster at that site established a contest:
Ride to a lighthouse in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Take a photo of the lighthouse and your bike.
Post it on the site.
Your score is the number of different lighthouses you present this way.
One of the frequent posters complained that he was at a disadvantage, because he was on assignment in the midwest.
"ME TOO! Where are you???" another member asked. The response was "Indiana".
"ME TOO! Where in Indiana???"
It turned out they were BOTH on assignment in Terre Haute, so they went for several rides together, and posted some pictures to participate in the contest. Actually, Indiana's coastline (on Lake Michigan) is not very long ...

BEAR WITH ME NOW ... I'm coming to the punchline.

... so Indiana has only ONE genuine lighthouse:http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/in.htm

These two bikers from Newfoundland could not keep riding to that lighthouse and photographing it,
so they rode around Terre Haute, and photographed their bikes in front of OUTHOUSES!
