Horseshoe Beach Cafe : Meeting the Wizard

I am heading North for an RTE to Horseshoe Beach Cafe 12/5/09. I will be taking back roads (paved) there and Suncoast parkway back. It is 195 miles one way from St Pete. I'll be leaving at 7:30 from Biffs in St. Pete.

Everyone is welcome to come along for the ride, or meet/join the MTF group (including wizard) up there. Horseshoe beach cafe is a really cool little restaurant in old world Florida.

happy trails,

Clem

Sorry for the confusion, I get carried away some times.

A RTE is a ride to eat, in other words, no real group ride, but all are welcome to show up at the cafe and chat, and share good times. That way, no one is unhappy about how the ride went, since each is responsible for their own way there. I offer a ride to there for a little social event.

The MTF stands for the motorcycle tourers forum, they can be found here:
http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/?

They are a super group of avid riders from around the globe, mostly the USA, that host multiple events through the year. The host RTE's in every state of the union, and like many here on this forum, would help people in need on the road. I costs nothing to be part clan.

The Wizard, well that's a guy who put this particular RTE together at Horseshoe beach, A great guy by the name of Kevin, (aka wizard)

Hope to see you there, we plan on arriving about 11:30-1200!

Clem

Horse Shoe, Florida

I've been to the little town of Horse Shoe, Florida. It's a quaint little place with a Marina. The whole town is less than 200 acres. I did stop at the cafe for lunch, and it was good. Not a huge place, but I think it's the only hotel in town. The town is built on a horse shaped peninsula. It's a nice ride up there, and is on the same latitude as Chiefland, but you have to go farther north and cross the Suwannee at Fanning Springs, and turn southwest on CR351a just North of Cross City. Click here for directions.

Sounds like a nice ride, I might try and make it. Thanks for the heads up Clem.

Lou

Hey Clem, are you going down CR 351 when you get up that way or are any of the backroads along the gulf passable?

OBTW: I made my reservations for Iron Horse in May.

Yes I will be heading south on 351 but there is a nice little road that goes all the way through south of 351, however it is dirt/gravel if you have no opposition. Joe took it last time there and said it was great. Since I will be with others that have no desire for dirt, I will stick with 351... unfortunately

Hope to see you there!

Dirt/Gravel isn't bad, but I'm a sand weenie. Do you know the name of the road that goes through?

horseshoe beach

Clem, how long does it take you to get to the area of 98 and 19, or are you going to take back roads up to there? Im looking for a good meeting point between I4,I75 and Horseshoe Beach. it takes me about an hour to get to 19 and 98. Also, Im thinking of staying at the campground that I told you about on 24 just before getting into Cedar Key on Saturday night. Curt

Curt, why don't you just ride to st pete? Not that much further I 275 to 38th ave N . ( about 4 miles to biffs) exit. I know you are dying to ride the backroads of pinellas.

Why not Hillsborough and eastlake corner in Pinellas, thats a straight shot from you. I might camp out as well.

Are you going to plan the Flamingo trip??????? I haven't seen any postings yet.

Flamingo Fest 2009 be there or stay home!
