Ride-to-Eat @ Yalaha Noon Sunday Oct 26

Florida Stromtroopers, it has been far too long since we
broke bread,
swapped lies, and
twisted throttles together.

I will lunch at the Yalaha Bakery at noon on Sunday October 26 2014, and
I hope not to dine alone. After lunch, I offer to lead a ride of about 45 miles
on secondary roads to the Carney Island Conservation & Recreation Area.

Here is the route I propose:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Yala...d29.012173!3e0

If the link does you no good, ask Google to route you from Yalaha to Eustis to Ocklawaha
to Carney Island Conservation Area and you will probably see the planned route.

I am not a highly experienced leader, and I do not have time to ride the route
beforehand, so I will defer to anyone who reckons he or she would be a better
leader than I would.

Let's hope this is the start of some fine events to share,
both stationary and moving.

Keith

fl ride

I am so sorry Keith. I check the new posts everyday, but somehow I missed the reply to the other thread and the start of this one. I should arrive in Ocala on Friday, Sunday ride sounds good. Your route is up in my area, those are good roads. Could maybe show you an extra detour near the end of your route. I can meet you at the bakery, or might be able to meet at 471 and 50 or 301 and 50. I don't know what's at those intersections. I'll get back to you on that. Thanks, Dave

Lakeland Stromer

Good day everyone, though I read this site quiet often I never wonder to the regional listings and was surprised by the number of Stomers in the Tampa/Orlando area. I have a Vee K9. Though I have a house in Lakeland, I am currently working in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and riding around Central America on one of the few Stroms. Check out my Facebook page (Larry Helmich) and there are lots of pictures of my riding exploits around Europe 2011 - 2014 and now here in Central America.

Looking to be back in Lakeland summer 2017 with the Vee and hopefully some of you will still be around and we can get together for some rides.

Best regards

Larry

Jolly Ride-to-Eat and Ride

En route to Yalaha Bakery, I stopped at US-301 and Florida State Road 50.

While I was getting coffee, a Yellow Strom showed up, ridden by Larry.
(This Larry is not the member Axeman, whose welcome post is just above.)
Larry chanced upon me while en route also to the Bakery.

At the Yalaha Bakery, just before noon, Larry and I met Dave.

We had lunch, the best part of which was the conversation.

Then I led part way to the Carney Conservation Area, getting us lost
only twice. My fault, because I had abbreviated my maps too much,
and they were inadequate to the unfamiliar terrain & my small brain.

No fear, because Dave took the lead at a planned junction,
and led us to our destination. There is a fee to enter the area,
so we made a U-turn and sought some ice cream, which we enjoyed.

Dave led Larry and me to Highway 301, where he went north and we south.

By and by Larry and I parted, and I found my way home.
338 miles for me, and a successful outing, much enjoyed.

I will organize another ride like this, and hope for more company.
