Dixie Dual Sport Leesburg Bikefest Ride

Dixie Dual Sport is havholding the 2007 Leesburg Bikefest Adventure Ride on Sunday April 29th. I've already signed up.

Check out the details at www.dixiedualsport.com. They're a great bunch of guys and gals, and several of our V-Strom group also ride with Dixie Dual Sport.

Lets Ride

Lou is right it will a great ride.

Check out the website: dixiedualsport.com

I also belong to Dixie DualSport and am actually on of the guides for the Cross Florida Ride that is almost 500 miles in two days across the state of FL with about 50% dirt, mostly DRZ's, KTM's and a few KLR's mixed in. it's and awesome ride.

I told Robert (Swampy) that I really did not want to ride dirt on my VStrom so if he worked out an alternate route for people who want to stay out of the sand then I would lead that group and we could meet up for lunch.

My philosophy is that if I want to dirt ride I ride my DRZ400 and if I want to street ride or do long distance adventure riding I ride the Strom. On the VStrom I do not go looking for dirt, but if I encounter it on a ride or trip I like the ability to keep going and not have to turn around.

Hey Lou,

Looks interesting! What kind of roads do they ride on? Is there a route sheet posted somewhere?

Looking at the 29th's event page I guess I'll have to sign up as a memeber to get to ride.

We actually get a route sheet at the meeting place. Swampy will have the route sheet in a format so you can put it in a roll chart holder.

If you don't have a role chart holder you can just put the instructions on your tank bag.

Swampy assured us that the V-Stroms are suitable for all of the roads on the route. Should be a good time, and the Leesburg Bikefest is great. I've been about 3 times, and it gets better each year.

I'll be there with a couple of buddies with 3 Wees. We ride most of these roads on Sunday mornings anyway. Should be a great time. Looking forward to meeting some more folks to get lost with. At least until we plug in "home" on the GPS. I have lived here all my life and I love riding on roads I've never been on just to see where they go. See you all Sunday.

Sounds like fun

Do we need to join Dixie Dual Sport to join this ride?
If so, it's no big deal cost-wise, but just wondering if there's time to get it done prior to Sunday...

Anybody know?

If Barney's ever gets my tire repaired, I may attend. Is there any chance I'll dig my brand new Vee into some sand and fall down/go boom?

Lou, I was under the impression the Leesburg Bike Fest was an homage to chrome and leather posing. No?

Sounds like the ride is going to be in the Clermont area, stopping perhaps at the Yalaha Bakery and the Lakeridge Winery. So it's mostly street riding, I take it? Any dirt at all?

I'm interested, but I may already be commited to riding out to Leesburg with some coworkers. If they don't go, I should be able to make this ride.

It's not an adventure unless you need a tent, a passport, and a leather glove for your shooting hand.
