On the 3-piece Suzuki/Kappa bags: make 1 key for all 3 locks

Just received my panniers and trunk, but the one thing that bothers me is that I now have to carry three different keys (and they all look the same). Aside from the inconsiderate use of a rider's pocket space, it's inconvenient when I have to pull out all three keys each time I want to open a bag... because, of course, it's always the last key that opens the lock.

Yes, I'll find a way to mark them accordingly, but when the bags are sold as a set they should be manufactured as a set as well -- three locks, one key.

Love the bags though. Thanks.

My Suzuki Kappa bags came with a bunch of keys - but they are all the same. Any one of the keys fits all the cases. The others are just spares.

Weird....

Mine are all keyed the same, plus each bag came with two keys!

So you're saying I'm the blasted stepchild in this situation? (no offense to any current or former stepchildren) Perhaps I should make a phone call... but to whom? My original dealer who's 50 miles away? The Suzuki department that shipped my bags to me? Who would listen? And would anyone take the time to replace two locks to match the third without charging me? Or perhaps these locks can be keyed like any typical lock on my house? Hmmm.

(Don't mean to turn this suggestion topic into a chatty thread, but now I'm full of questions.)

Yes - the key locks should be a matched set. You SHOULD ALWAYS complain to whoever took your money!!!

If the bags were shipped to your house we don't know if it was the dealer or whatever.

I received mine a couple of weeks ago and the side bags are keyed the same but the tail bag has a different key. I guess I can live with it but it is weird.

I wonder if they have been breaking up sets to send out replacement units or something. Whatever - something is wrong. One key should operate the entire set, both side cases and the trunk.

Givi / Kappa sells also matching lock sets. I bought my Kappa bags (2 x 40 & 1 x 48) from a local dealer (choosing exactly the same bags as Kappa-branded instead of Suzuki-badged saved close to 30%...) and the locks were changed using this lock set. Now all the bags use the same key.

Okay you guys - PLEASE help me out! I'm about to buy the Suzuki hard cases - but only want the side cases. I'll have to drill out the OEM rear rack - as Suzuki wants me to own the top case rack too ... the side cases blot to the top case rack and you have to remove the OEM rack. Can you please send me pictures of your cases so that I might find a better alternative??? I REALLY LIKE the looks of the matching Blue DL1000 colored cases that Suzuki has.

I noticed one of the postings showed a yellow V-STrom with matching top case? Is that an aftermarket case alerady painted that color? Nice! I'd like to see pictures of everyone's! Thanks again! The $$$ is burning a hole in my pocket! Help me quick!

Givi is just 90 miles up the road from me. I'm tempted to drive there Friday and SPEND SPEND SPEND!
Thanks!
Murphy

Hey all,

I do not think the new bags from Suzuki (2006) models are from Kappa/Givi. I am not sure who is doing them. Possibly the same company who is doing luggage for the MultiStrada as the appear very similiar.

Hope this helps
