ABS and color options

I don't understand your color options for the ABS bikes. Last year you offered a bright yellow bike, but if you were interested in ABS you had to purchase a flat black bike. Now for '09 you pull the same stunt again. You offer a bright orange color but to get ABS you have to buy gray. Why do you think that anyone who is interest in ABS brakes wants to hide in traffic? I want to be as visible as possible, but having the option of ABS would be nice too.

I agree 100% and don't see any reasoning in simply not giving consumers what they want.

It's not like it's more expensive for you to produce bikes that are a bright color as opposed to gray and therefore need to force them to buy gray bikes

Plus apparently you offer the ABS in other countries in the orange color

What's your problem?

Its obviously (to me anywho) just a cost cutting measure. One color and one line creating US ABS bikes means not having to convert numerous lines like they had to do for CA bikes. Means they can pump out more bikes to a market that is not getting enough as is.

Or at least that was what my immediate thought was.

Bikes and cars of different colors are produced on the same assembly line. It may be a cost-cutting measure, but I doubt it has anything to do with needing another line -- the painted parts are the same for both ABS and non-ABS stroms.

Agreed. They would most likely be able to switch mid stream it needed. A manufacturer as large and skilled as the big "S" probably has ways to handle this if they wanted.

There are only a couple of parts that need to be swapped. They could just alter the specific parts coming through the production line (or from a temporary inventory depending on their practice).

Perhaps they only do one color because they seem to do lower quantities compared the the non-ABS version? I don't have any real idea other than the ABS always seems in short supply.

Seriously Suzuki....Listen up.

I WANT to replace my 06 with an ABS model, but I WILL NOT buy an asphalt death colored bike.

I want a bright colored bike and ABS.... Get it together.

If this wasn't a "Feedback to Suzuki" thread, I'd mention that some dealers might be per$uaded to do a panel-swap, but since it is, I won't.

Canada is different from the USA. Some years, different colors are available. Also, all DL650s in 2008 are ABS models. Blue, Mat Black, Yellow are all available. In the USA, there is no blue for 2008. ABS is rare and only available in Mat Black.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Too bad...When I first saw that flat black, I fell in love with it..absolutely outstanding and seemed to tone down some of the questionable esthetics of this bike.
However, IMHO the flat black was damn near invisible, so I got the Yellow for visibility reasons...and quite like it now.
NOT knocking the black but I gotta feel comfortable what I am riding.
