Headed to Big Bend in May (questions)

I am meeting a friend in Houston in early May and we are headed to Big Bend National Park from there for a week. Having never been there I am curious about a few things:
What Tires?
Terrain to plan for?
What to expect?

For some background, I have a '07 Wee that I have put about 21k on.
Maintenance has been kept up with but, I really need to know about a few things:
1. Tires have about 14K front (Dunlop 607) and 5k rear (Trail Attack)
It is a good bet I should replace before the trip, what type is my problem.
I thought about the TKC 80's, but don't want them after the trip, any
Suggestions?
2. Original chain & sprockets. Think I should go ahead and replace? To tell the truth they still look great. I have had to adjust maybe 6 times in 21k miles.
3. Terrain, I understand they have mountains to desert and everything in between. I have read about rocks, sand and gravel roads/trails. What should I prepare for?
4. Weather, research tells me it will be HOT. Other than water, any ideas on what to bring along?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you stay on the dirt roads any of the D/p tires,,, Carry a bottle of slime
and a tire pump, and do not air down the tires,, Unless you want dents in your rims,,,
A fun road is the paved river road between study butte on Presidio on 170
Also the dirt river road between castolon and Rio grande village.
Also hit the visitors information desk up for stuff to do....
The speed limit is 45 MPH in the park and they give Federal tickets.
and all the Rangers have Radar.... You can buy the stuff from the illegal Mexicans coming across the river as long as the rangers do not see it on your bike or truck,,, Hide it if you buy it, They sell the same stuff at the park stores and area towns at a 500 % mark up....
I like going down road 2627 out of the park it dead ends but the road is worth it..
With a week in the park you will not even put a dent in the things to see and do,, Its a BIG place
