The "Cancer Sucks Ride" is a charity-endurance ride that supports the American Cancer Society through the Relay for Life program. The ride is, among other things, an IBA sanctioned event and participation qualifies you for the Iron Butt Association Saddle Sore 1000 award.
Last year, 12 riders rode from Cental Ohio to St. Louis and circle back through Kentucky and Virginia, completing 1,000 miles in 22 hours. We also raised more than $10,000 for ACS. This year we are on track to triple that amount. The first leg of the ride is a nighttime deadhead from Lancaster, OH to the Tail of the Dragon, where we will be eating breakfast at the Iron Horse Lodge. We will ride the dragon, and meetup with another group in NC, who will ride back with us (including a tour of Kendall Johnson Customs). Once back in OH, they will complete the 2nd leg of their ride.
Cancer Sucks Ride is a 501c3 founded by my good friend, and father of a cancer survivor. You can get more info a Cancer Sucks Ride | Saddle Sore 1000
We have really put together a comprehensive event, including planned fuel stops and several support vehicles. This year I am excited to move from the support vehicle to the bike...I would love to meet some of my new Vstrom bretheren while supporting Cancer Research. You can reply/PM for more details, but the website is pretty self explanatory.
