DEATH VALLEY NEW YEARS RIDE
So for those interested looking at doing it January 5th.
730 am stands up and rolling.
Ride in to Vegas, Trailer in or rent and do Vegas for New Years and then kick off the Year with a GREAT RIDE.
Route this year, meet Terrible Herbst 159/160 intersection, Old Spanish Trail to Tecopa, Shoshone for fuel top off for those who need it, Amargosa Opera House for group pic, Longstreet Casino to munch, Danteís, Artist Pallet, Badwater, Furnace Creek and ride is officially done.
Since I throw this out open invitation The Spyder Club will probably be along again.
So mark your calendar if interested and extend the invitations.
Mike

Guess what? I probably won't make it again this year. I'll be there in spirit though.

I was in Vegas two weeks ago for Amazons Re:Invent conference. The Sunday before we had the "Harley Ride": A group of about 50 riders rented bikes (Harleys of course) at EagleRider and went on a 130-mile tour to Valley of Fire State Park. Stunning scenery. I really enjoyed that day.

If you want to ride in the Las Vegas area and don't mind doing so on a Harley, I can highly recommend EagleRider. Wide selection, large number of bikes, all relatively new and in top condition. Do bring your own gear though: Their selection is fairly limited.

I wish I could make it. Was out in LA in 2017 and drove out to Las Vegas and back via Death Valley on the way and the Mojave and Joshua tree on the way back. I did rent a bike (from Eaglerider) for the day while I was in LA so I could go and hit the Malibu hills.

Anyway, I really liked the desert and plan to get back down there someday with a bike. Unfortunately, it's a long ride from here and I just don't have that much vacation time.

The Canadians I've met work in the oil industry and their time for work is in the winter when they can access the frozen oil areas. They come down in the spring and summer and go to BMW rallies and wander the southern hinterlands.

Mike it would be nice to be seen. It's been too long!

I met some Canadians that work for airlines, so they use free flights to Vegas to ride.
A group rented a storage unit together to store their bikes and just drop in when time allows and off on adventures.

Death Valley is a favorite place to ride for me. I always visit the China Ranch date farm when in the Tecopa area and of course enjoy a soak in the hot springs in Tecopa. A couple my favorite day rides out of Furnace creek are Titus Canyon and Aguereberry Point in the Panamints where I bring a sandwich and enjoy solitude and the view.

Garage
So far everything looks like a go for me, as long as no photo shoots get booked.
