I'm riding to New Mexico/Arizona mid-May. I have training in Albuquerque so will ride/slab out After that visit my daughter in Eastern Arizona (Morenci) and then likely head up to Monument valley, Durango, Montrose (via Million Dollar Highway), Cripple Creek area, Colorado Springs area and then work my way back. (I have been to most of those places but if my wife comes she hasn't and would enjoy much of it I think.)

I will be at Neva and hopefully there will be an Ohio meet this Labour day that I can go to.

Apart from that I am not sure... I have a few more weeks of vacation than what I've booked so we will have to see.

Haven't even picked up my new 1000XT yet, but I'm already planning a trip from northern Michigan to San Diego in May. (wife is flying out for a meeting, I'm riding out to meet her there)

I'm thinking a bit of Route 66 (Illinois) and other 2 lane mixed with some slab (Missouri & Kansas) to get to get to the good stuff. Not sure if it will be too early (first week of May) for crossing Colorado, (Durango, Ouray, Silverton, etc.) or if I'd do better to wait for the return trip, taking a more southerly desert route there, and try to hit the Rockies on the way home. Really want to see Monument Valley again, maybe Grand Canyon?

2018 Rides

With some local overnighters we'll try and get some of our favorite runs in AZ, salt canyon run along with some newly paved roads in the White Mtns and back down 666 (191) cross back into NM, go through the Gila. CO, I want to do the same loop Rider mag. had in last months issue. 2 ways from here to get to Montrose, Million dollar if the hwy past Silver City's still under construction, down thru Lake City into Pagosa which is a great ride and never the same from one year to the next. After that still planning....

You've got my attention. I'm going to be down that way in a couple months. I've only seen Monument Valley, GC North Rim, and Zion, but have never got to explore south of those. I'm looking forward to it.

Prolly a good idea, CO on your way back home. 2 years ago me & my BIL were in snow in mid May other side of Silverton on our way into Ouray........ wasn't to bad after we got out of some of the canyons....

I'll try to keep an eye on things, and I may have to divert a bit further south. This is roughly my plan for the way out there. I have friends in Long Beach, family in Riverside, and another friend in Clovis, but after that?? Who knows?

I hate to ride interstate too much, but all 2 lane thru Kansas and eastern Colorado might suck as well. I might mix it up a bit.

Leaving for Horizons Unlimited in Nakusp, BC next week. At the end of September I'll be doing a ride in Colorado with the Motorcycle Relief Project.

Don't miss Ramea Island on the East coast if you can make it. Nice folks and 90 miles of nice gravel to get to the ferry to go to the island. Nice little motel there also. NOTE: rain gear is mandatory. Labrador is also fun now that they have a bit more roads passable by M/C. Have fun.
