Most of which I didn't get to spend enough time with. I left late (11AM) on Sunday and rode 28 to Franklin then high balled it to Waynesville. Rode The Rattler (209) north to Hot Springs and then I ended up in Pineville TN. At that point I decided it was time to go home. I left there at 4:45PM eastern and was home by 12:40AM central. 1741 miles total for the trip. No tickets or crashes. Thank You to all the people who put this Rally together. Good Job...
Good meeting and riding with you Joe. I will be in bunkhouse 1 again next year. However be forewarned I plan on getting to sleep before you next year!

Eight days on the road, 7 nights in my tent, and 2600 miles only to be overtaken by a strom on the Dragon.

Now I remember why I like this photo so much, it has both my bikes in it.

Post-Rally Notes.............

2018 Eastern Vstrom Rally has come and gone.......is "in the books". Smaller crowd this year, a dozen or so new faces, decent weather most of the time, great food, no casualties, no tickets (that anyone would admit to), plans for next year's event are already being thought about, and the Vstrom Community is alive and well.
From the Sign-in Sheets:

Stalky Tracker.........2006 Wee......Wisconsin
Prowler........2005 DL1000........Kentucky

Ms Chase..........NC
Mark ...........Glee..........SC
Eric.......2017 DL1000......Georgia

.... and probably 1-3 more that got missed. I find it interesting that only 1-2 late model DL1000's showed up......
We had a really good time at the Museum on Saturday........with about 15 bikes riding over to Maggie Valley. Prowler conducted "skull sessions" on Friday and Saturday nights, brainstorming with the crowd what can be done differently, the same, better, etc. Buck83 and Stalky are going to look into FaceBook for more exposure for the Rally next year. RealShelby put on his Clutch Ch-ch-ch-chudder seminar for about a dozen interested owners, and STCorndog gave us a quick "wake-up call" on the dangers of Prostrate Cancer..........specifically how easy it is to get checked, and keep the exams in-check. Bill C. amused us with his long list of life-stories, some about his past rides (Alaska) and some about past experiences with "people" in general.....kept us in stitches the whole weekend. Thankyou Frosty for bringing the DVD's (even tho not watched), Buck83 for the Tshirts and stickers this year, and others that I know I am missing to "thank". I especially want to acknowledge kudo's to Stalky Tracker (Roy) who works behind the scenes all year long on the Rally Website........I think of him as "the Wise Old Owl" when it comes to decisions concerning the rally. John & Charlene (IH Owners) bend over backwards for us. John even mentioned how many of us "congregate" in a circle in chairs where the Registration Table is typically set-up outside the Office, and maybe next year we might see some kind of patio/deck/gazebo covered structure (near the little Wishing Well) erected for that very purpose: folks sitting around, shooting the bull, and watching the bikes roll in.
Ride Safe - Ride Far........

The first "V Strom" rallies were a chance for owners with the same bike to get together and go over mods, gear, and performance. Less online presence back then, meeting up was even more important.

The V Strom East rally this thread is about still has the draw of owners that want to check out others V STroms and their mods and gear. But it has also morphed into something beyond that. The chance to get together with friends from past events, chance to meet new members and put a face to a forum name. It wouldn't be out of line to call it the "V Strom Reunion". Few events have been around this long. Big B rode down just to see a few friends, myself and others rode thousands of miles to be there. Not necessarily on a V STrom, but that does not matter because the friendships are more important. Then there is the setting, the Ironhorse lodge is hard to beat for our group.

I have been to other motorcycle rally events. There just doesn't seem to be the stuck-up attitude that some events carry with the V Strom event. No one cares where you work, how big your house is, how new your bike is.

My thanks to those that put the work into organizing this event. If you can, make plans to attend in 2019. You won't be disappointed!

It was nice to finally put a face to you @realshelby and talk a bit of shop with you. I unfortunately missed your clutch tech session as I was heavily sedated from the sugar rush of the freakin' awesome super chewy fudge brownie ice cream sundae and went to bed early. My loss. Thanks for presenting your fix to the dreaded clutch chudder of the V-Stroms. My 2003 is a victim and needs your clutch fix.

Gotta agree with Shelby here. I showed up to the meet more so to see members/friends from past meets rather than the motorcycles. Heck, I didn't even ride! But I will be taking my 03 for sure next year! Can't wait!

Sorry, I was interested in the CB and Tundra. You're not my type. Though I was bummed that you didn't unload and start the CB.
