Back yet again by popular demand...and due to the great turn out we have every year...I'm proud to announce...it's on!!!

2016 8th Annual "Buckeye Bash" Labor Day Weekend Rally!!!!!!!!!!!!:hurray::yesnod:
September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th...Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

11030 LAKE ROAD
MILLERSPORT, OH 43046

This will not be a Stromtrooper Specific Rally, although more Stroms are always there than any other bike model.

My Buddy Glen who we host at his amazing property does own a V-Strom "my old 1000", but we are still not calling this a V-Strom specific rally. All that really matters is good friends are getting back together to enjoy a common interest...RIDING and friendship!!! I can assure everyone that pirates and squids won't be there.

This is going to be run the same as every year...arrive Friday afternoon/evening, rides will take place on Saturday "typically leave between 9/10 am", cook out Saturday night, depart whenever you feel like it on Sunday........even leave Monday on Labor Day if needed.

Food: Something easy Friday night...probably order Pizza or grill burgers and dogs...whatever...

Light breakfast consisting of coffee, pancakes, some kind of donuts and sausage will be provided Saturday and typically on Sunday.

Lunch on Saturday will depend on who you're riding with...basically you're on your own...or wherever the group decides to stop.

Cook out "usually tasty real BBQ" and Bon Fire Saturday night.

Basic Beverages will be provided....water, pop, etc...

Alcohol is up to you!!! :biggrinjester:

Accommodations:

There is plenty of Camping area and on site bathroom and shower facilities. There are also a few local Hotels "but book early due to the local sweetcorn Festival".

Every year everyone is more than gracious chipping in money for the food and beverages served during the event...so instead of charging people a fee...we'd like to keep things as they have worked...feel free to DONATE to the hosts if you're eating/drinking!!!

I love putting this on, and we always have such a great time riding and reminiscing with old friends while making new ones. Weather is typically in our favor, but can still be pretty hot in Ohio. We have some amazing riding in Ohio for those of you that are not aware, and we hit some of the best roads the buckeye state has to offer. So I hope we have a great turnout this year, please use the poll to give me an idea for a headcount, so I know as to how much food to have. THANKS.......and really looking forward to this!!!!!

Always a great event with great company and great roads to ride on!

Sadly, the deal Sandy and I made means we are only able to come every second year so we will have to wait until next year. :( (She has a family event the alternate years.)

See you next year!

Y'all are killin me!!!!

Time is getting closer, so far have 757 views but only a few commitments. To be honest.......the last 4 years have had lower attendance than in the past, so this will be the last year I am posting this on the forum, unless miraculously I start to get more who are committing and "actually show up". There is just too much prep time involved, and I don't want to have too much or not enough food and drinks etc. As of now it will be my regulars who come every year, and of course my close friends/riding buds who I can always count on. I will continue to put this on every Labor Day until I decide not to, those who attend always have a good time and look forward to it. Members/attendees of past may no longer own a Strom or even a motorcycle anymore, some have a hard time getting away, it is a holiday weekend, and I know that some who have come since the beginning simply cannot attend every year. So.....this is just where my head is at right now, I know those who are attending will most certainly enjoy themselves, and that is why I put this on every year.

Ohio has always been the highlight of my riding year and Sandy really enjoys it as well! the deal is to alternate yer to year because of the other commitment on the Labour Day weekend.

No worries bud, I am still doing it until I have a good reason not to. :wink2: What I won't be doing is posting it up on the forum any more, the participation since it is not a "V-Strom gathering" just is not there to be honest. We we still have a decent turnout year after year, even if it is just us local boys and a few new folks......and you and Sandy are most certainly honorary members of the Ohio division!!!! We will have fun every year no matter the turnout, and ALWAYS look forward to seeing you 2 again. I don't wanna jump the gun yet, but so far the interest is ass for this year.......just sayin. :frown2:

Regarding the low response rate... I tried to get a little interest in an Alaska ride earlier this year and got ZERO responses. Don't know what is going on with that.

You are about a days ride away... I'll try to get up there this time and meet some of you guys. Thanks for trying to put this on.

I was going to try and make it to this one but I can't get Friday off, I have the Tuesday-Friday off after labor day but it would take me probably 2 days to get there so I'd get there when everyone is leaving haha. Maybe next year!

I hear this from folks every year, and then they still don't come the following year. :wink2: Wish you could make it, I still am holding out for a few of my long time regulars to hopefully be able to attend.

Just got permission from household 6; I'm looking forward to the rides, stories about trips and farkle advice. I don't have a skid plate yet, so I'll have to be a little conservative about off road. With that said, I've already done a fair amount of dirt/gravel access road and some single track. (Rode dirt bikes before the Strom.)

Thanks for the invitation and for putting it together. See you next month.

SWEET!!!! Any off road we do won't be gnarly or bad at all, lots of great gravel and hard pack roads here and some darn fine ride routes created. We have some great twisty roads here too, we eat well and also talk lots of BS and laugh a lot.

Hi guys, checking in now that I have my account reset.

This is always one of my favorite events every year. Always look forward to it. So as I mentioned to Brian earlier this year, I'm bummed this will be one of those rare years that I cannot make it.

This year our 30th wedding anniversary falls on Labor Day. Sure I've walked that fine line before with this event, but when the number ends in 0 even I know it's a bridge too far to push to spend the weekend with the boys. DM has been extraordinarily understanding about my attending the bash, but if I want to make it to 31, discretion is required.

Hell, even if I could come, there's a chance I wouldn't remember how to operate on of those two-wheeled things to get me there. After I saw most of you back in April/May I bought a house. One thing led to another and within the first three weeks I was sitting with $70K damage between house and car as a result of a massive hail storm. Been digging out ever since. Bikes have had very little use since we last spoke. This too shall pass.

Enjoy the bash, guys. I do wish I could be there with all of you. Hope to see most of you next spring, and back in Ohio next fall.

Bummer, sorry to hear but totally understand...medical bills have brought my fun to a serious halt this year but I still manage a ride once and a while...but trips have been no bueno.

On the good side, it's kept me creative and if you get up this way again in the near future I've completed a 1080 mile Trans Ohio Trail that has a lot of our best roads and light trails on it....it'd be right up your alley.

So sorry about the hail damage Jon, but otherwise congrats on the new house. Totally understand you can't come this year, you are with us in spirit when you aren't here in person. Yeah you need to come and ride with Craig on the TOT, I am sure you would enjoy yourself. I am still holding out that Norm is gonna make it this time, the rally just isn't the same without all my original buds. :(

Thanks Brian. You know the odds of Norm making it have gone up dramatically now that I'm not going to be there. It's just the way things work. Actually I do hope he makes it. If he does, please give him my regards.

LOL....let's not forget the riding adventure storytelling BS and solving of the worlds problems we all like to discuss as gentleman too. :grin2: Yup we have a good time, hard to believe with all of the Buckeye troopers here, that I don't have a much bigger turnout, perhaps it is because I'm a brutally honest asshole? :green_lol:
