As Andreas is the Cache King I communicated with him about an idea I had and his response was entirely correct; "Someone has cabin fever!" Yes Andreas, yes I do!!

Anyway, here is my idea;
A Strom Cache Rally.

Who is eligible attend?
Those who have carried the Cache.
Those who want to carry the Cache.
Those who have heard about the Cache.
and finally,
Everyone else who is alive and has a bike....or at least the bike part.

Like the Strom Cache, the Strom Cache Rally is just an excuse to ride and meet other riders.

Looking at the Cache map the PNW and the Mountain West are the two places that have the most participants. So I thought it only fair to put the Rally in the middle (roughly) of those two locations... Hence McCall, Idaho.

So here are the details;
Location - McCall, Idaho
Date - June 26 - 29, 2014
Activities - Actually if the truth be known, I'm guessing I will be the only one attending, so I'm holding off about rides and activities. However, anyone who has been in that area knows there is some awesome riding there.
ie:
McCall to Lolo, Montana. - 250 miles
McCall to Joseph, Oregon - 167 miles
McCall to Stanley, Idaho - 156 miles
McCall to Yellowpine, Idaho - 16 miles of dirt road.
et al.

For lodging - since almost everyone who has contacted me about the rally would prefer camping I've contacted
Arrowhead RV Park On The River, Cascade, Idaho

I camped there two years ago and really enjoyed my stay.
It is CLEAN, quiet, the showers were hot, and for the fishermen among us, access to the river is about a 1 minute walk from the camp site.
They provide free firewood, and the spot I stayed in was shaded nicely.

They don't take reservations until May 1st but I was assured if we call on that date we could get the grassy area by the totem-pole carving pavilion with out any problem.

The Arrowhead RV park is in Cascade Idaho approx 30 miles south of McCall.
There is a small grocery store about a 1 minute ride from the campsite.

Group rides will be arranged on site.

I was just telling the Utard group that I wanted to go to Idaho this summer rather than south.
But I like to camp.

I'm also thinking of camping should I be able to go. Have yet to find out if I can get time off.

I'm taking it under consideration. Nothing else in June going on.

Lots of camping in McCall. At least three camp parks right in town. If you want a more camping style of camping they have that also. Last summer I stayed in a little spot right outside of town that felt like I was in the middle of nowhere... Nice.

Bring your hiking shoes....there are a lot of natural hot springs within an easy ride then hike. I plan on visiting (or re-visiting) one or two.

Also, Yellow Pine, Idaho is a tiny town accessible only via dirt roads (or helicopter I suppose...) that I plan to go to. The only eatery in town has a tasty chicken san.

Great idea. I hope there is a good turnout and the weather is nice.

Temps should be between 70 - 80
McCall gets some rain each month in the summer, usually less than 3 inches...
Odds are it will be "mostly nice"...

Been in the neighborhood a couple, 3 times in Aug. Weather was summer pleasant but the smoke from the area fires was the pits. But nothing to be done about that though. Check the fire incident page and see if the hot shots are busting their butts.
