Cool Should I get a Beema R1200GT?

Ok...I know i'm likely to get a biased reply but would like any opinions anyway. I am a StromTrooper and proud of it...02 DL1000. Ive been taken in by the BMW R1200GT Adventurer and can't get it off my mind...Would you leave your VStrom for the beema if not then help me get it off my mind, coz i love my Strommy!!

If you are interested, I posted a small report of a test ride I went on with the R1200GS...

https://www.stromtrooper.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=23180

Although you said the R1200GT... Unless that is a UK specific bike, the GT over here is a K1200...

The "Adventure" is the R1200GSA, here...

Really, if you've got a Strom, there's no real reason to switch bikes - I don't think it's worth the extra money.

Bruce,

Read your report and it's all I need. I'm sticking to my V (what came over me)

I've ridden one a lot, since a co-worker has one. Or to put it properly, I've ridden it as much as I want. Another co-worker has a 1200Rs - he's about to buy a Wee-Strom.

How about the Montauk?

Garage
I rode a BMW at work for several years. It was an RT but the running gear is the same and I can tell you I never worry if my Strom is going to start and run when I throw my leg over. You never knew with the BMW. There was always SOMETHING going on with them. Great police bike, not so great civilian bike.

I can buy Suzuki parts and get Suzuki service a LOT cheaper than the BMW. The Suzuki network is a lot bigger too. If I'm in BFE I can usually find someone who can fix my bike if I can't do it myself.

I can buy 2 Stroms and have change left over or I can buy 1 GS.

Need I say more? Save your money. The only advantage I saw was the BMW brakes. NO ONE makes a better system.

Quite understandable - "the grass is always greener" as the saying goes. That was why I took the test ride - I wanted to find out if the grass really was greener - it turned out to be astroturf!
