Best Inexpensive seat cushion for 2018 Vstrom 650XT?

What is the best inexpensive seat cushion for 2018 Vstrom 650XT? The stock seat is brutal after long miles.

Have you thought about a Bead Rider?

Check seat concepts. I don't know that they make one for the 2017+ DL650 yet, but they are probably the best deal out there in custom seats. Not the absolute best seats, but a really good economical improvement over stock.

No matter how much you polish a turd its still a turd and covering a turd doesn't keep it from stinking. You can get Airhawk, or the ATV cover from MaoMart ro any other number of seat covers but fundamentally the seat doesn't work for you. So putting another layer on it don't expect to go from uncomfortable to comfortable.

It gets frustrating trying to help folks when they don't want to spend money to fix the problem. Cheap fixes normally offer cheap results. I wish folks would attack issues with the attitude of what is the most cost effective way rather than what is the cheapest. If you want a comfortable seat you need to buy a comfortable seat. The good news is aftermarket seats pop up f/s frequently at nice discounts over new. The bad news is what works for one does not work for another.

For me personally the stock seat was okay for about an hour then I needed to get off and take a break. I got a Sargent seat and it was comfortable for way more than an hour. Sure I still had to stand up on the pegs once in a while but the seat was tolerable tank to tank and longs day in the saddle.

On my now R1200GS I recently bought a Saddleman Adventure seat (got a good deal on it) and while its comfortable I do not like the gel insert. I let the bike in the sun for about 45 minutes and when I came back out the get was like lava and never cooled down. It was like having a heated seat. Great in the winter but the other 3/4's of the year is a no go. So I am back to stock.

I had the foam replaced and reshaped by a specialist in The Hague, NL. Recently had a loaner bike with stock seat, and I was really happy when I got my own bike back 😉 no gel in there, just different densities of foam and a ridge for rear support. Would go back there for my next bike without thinking twice, 90€ and 1 hour of work while I waited with several cups of coffee. Nice guy too.

I did the Seat Concepts seat on my 2014 and it is way more comfortable. It's a little work doing the recover but well worth it. It was about $200 all in.

I've done 2 Seat Concepts conversion on DR650 and I was amazed at how easy it was to get good results with a standard staple gun. I am certainly no upholsterer and was hesitant but I figured the worst thing I could do is screw it up and then take t to a upholstery shop to fix my mistakes. Turns out there was no need. In about a 1/2 hour soup to nuts old cover and foam off new cover and foam RTR.

I had the benefit of an extra stock seat with the gel and could experience the difference. The Gel seat sucked even with the Air Hawk on top.
With due respect for personal choices I find the Air Hawk to be the answer for booty comfort. Reasonable at about $100 and a lot cheaper than the custom seats.
Others find the Bead Rider to be a perfect answer.
Some A- holes are easy to please?
