Just had the recall done this morning. Took about two hours, I waited for it. Unfortunately not allowed in the shop so can only hope they did everything right with the plastics, hidden screws etc. The manager assured me they knew how to take the tank off as this is part of regular maintenance for air filter and such. Drives fine so far and - just as before - no leak!

I think I'll do my own as well. Is there some trick to not breaking plastic parts? I've got the book and I'm plenty patient. I like the guys at my small-town dealership, I'm just not happy with anybody else working on my new bike. Twenty bucks and a few hours? I can do that. Any tips to share? Thanks, DD

I'll be having the safety recall done next week, my bike is due its 12000km maintenance anyway. Also, I noticed a slight tick in the handlebars when riding over bumps, so I'll have that checked as well.

I was procrastinating on this but on my last trip I noticed my left fork was leaking

So off to the shop - that's what the warranty is for...

Hope this isn't a forecast of future reliability. Had several Wee's before this one with no issues.

DR VStrom posted a detailed video on how to remove the tank. Can't go wrong if you follow it patiently.

Google motorcycle fork film trick.

Chances are very good you have a little tiny bit of grit stuck in the seal, by using a piece of film to trace the fork seal and clean it out - the leak stops very quickly.

(Our bikes have the most basic motorcycle fork out there - it's not rocket science)
