Assembled in India?

Is our Vstrom 650 2017-2018 assembled in india? There is a way to know it by the VIN identification plate? Seems Japanese Toyokawa plant is dismissed...

I hope not, it appears they are consolidating into one "new" plant in Japan. I won't own anything built in China or India.

ROFLMAO, Not even. Last time I rode a Chinese scooter in Katerini Paralia, the wheel fell off after hitting a speed bump on the way to Mount Olympus and I scraped up my butt.

Come on, don't be like that. You rode a cheap knock-off scooter and dismiss everything made there? Let me tell you, BMW and Honda will not produce rubbish even in India or Thailand. I owned a Honda cb500x - built in Thailand - and it was rock solid, great quality as you would expect from Honda. I would guess it's the same with BMW and would be the same with Suzuki. Given sufficient QC you can build anything anywhere.

My '13 Triumph Bonneville T100 was an incredibly well built bike. Had hand-painted factory striping. Loved riding that thing and it was easy to look at too. Built in Thailand.

That plant need to be completed... So, where the 2017-2018 were builted? Not in the oldest Toyokawa plant because was closed in 2016... And Suzuki is now launching vstrom in India (builted in a new indian plant where they are building also gsx750 and hayabusa). I also hope is not builted or just assembled in India but googling for "vstrom 2017 assembly line" (or something similar) no japan is mentioned but only India 😞

Thailand, I would possibly consider. China or India, not a chance. Ya know what they say, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Even my and my daughter's bicycles are hand built in Germany. I avoid Chinese products whenever I can. It's difficult sometimes but I try. I prefer American made or Euro made. My money my choice, very simple really. Motorcycles built in China or India are completely out of the question.

Sure, it's your money. I was just pointing out that because brand X has lousy or no QC, this does not reflect badly on everything made in the country where brand X happens to be making their products.

Motorcycle "A" brands are opening plants in India and China because that's where there's a lot of demand for smaller displacement bikes.
However, since these bikes are also sold in EU and US, they cannot afford to be lax in their QC (unlike brand X which does not have any name to keep up, and probably doesn't even sell bikes under its own name anyway).
So, for my part, I wouldn't really care whether my bike was made in Japan or in China under Japanese supervision as long as I could count on the same brand warranty (I have 4y of warranty for my DL650XT which is part of the reason I bought a Suzuki and not a Triumph).
