Cool Givi V47 Top Case and V35 Side Cases with PLX racks for '17 VStrom XT

The PLX 3112 racks finally arrived today and I installed them on the Wee3. I had previously installed the Aluminum top plate to mount the V47 case.

Since I am using the Wee as a sport touring mount and not a true ADV bike, I have gone for more on-road biased cases. I had the same set-up on my '14 Wee and liked their space, waterproof qualities, carrying capacity, cornering clearance, tucked in assembly, and aerodynamic qualities.

Here are the part numbers, including the SW Motech center stand. I purchased from Twisted Throttle. The final item is a 3 key set that includes 3 lock cylinders that work with one key.

SW-MOTECH Centerstand Suzuki DL650 V-Strom '12-'17 & V-Strom 650XT '15-'17

Givi V47NN Monokey Topcase (Ea) - 47 Liters/Case - Black CF center accent
GIVI V47NN
$292.50

GIVI SRA3112 Aluminum Top Rack For Suzuki V-Strom 650 '17 To Fit GIVI Monokey Top Cases
Givi.SRA3112
$162.00

Givi Security Key Lock Replacement 3 Lock & Key Set for Trekker Outback, E55 Maxia 3, Trekker 33, 46, & 52, V35, V47, & V46 Cases
Givi SL103
$51.30

Overall width of the side cases is ~40"

I may paint the leading edge insert of the V35 side cases to match the silver trim on the beak.

Pretty happy with the progress.

Koso Apollo heated grips going on next...

Looks good. Just for clarity, the Givi SRA3112 is a direct bolt on to the OEM rack? The Suzuki accessory shield also looks good. At your convenience, can you snap some pix with the luggage off? I'd like to see some shots to see how the supports look. I kinda like the PLR3112 quick disconnects as bags would only be on my bike about 15 days/year. Thanks

Looks great!

Are the PLX3112 racks specific to the V35 cases? I ask because I'm still trying to sort out what to purchase for my (identical to yours) 2017 XT.

I'm leaning towards the Givi Trekkers. and I *think* I need either the PL23112 or the PLR3112 rack.

Correct - The SRA3112 is a direct bolt on to the OEM rear rack. Any monokey luggage will now connect.

That shield is the stock shield with a MRA Vario spoiler attached that I had from a full MRA Vario Touring screen that was damaged in a garage incident. It works very well.

I will take a few pix of the bare racks tonight if I get home before dark.

The PLX3112 racks are specific to the V35 cases. Their shape allows them to tuck in more than flat backed cases would, and they are symmetrical as they mount above the exhaust.

Correct, if you want Givi Trekkers, get either the PL3112 or the rapid release PLR3112 racks.

No problem with that. I do expect to have lots of bugs pasted to the bike most of the time as well as some dust and dirt. Sadly, our riding season is drawing to a close up here. I call it mostly quits when they start throwing salt down on the roads. It was 30 degrees this morning.

Here are some shots of the empty racks:

Nice that they use all the factory mounting points. Clean, strong and fairly well tucked in.

I love how on the black bike those racks almost disappear. Excellent looking setup man.

Don't know how u feel about crash bars, but I'd get one asap. I've dropped my bike several times, and it has been absolutely non event each time because of the crash bars. We'll worth it.

Agreed, very clean look. The PLX racks blend in nicely. Thinking the PL versions would not be as nice. They sure do look beefy and strong ++
