2012 Saddle Compatibility

Hey V-strom gurus - does anybody know if you can put an older year model V-strom sattle (OEM or aftermarket) onto the 2012 V-strom?

I'm thinking about making an upgrade to a corbin or something but the new stuff is so pricy...

While there are certain similarities, the biggest problem is the rear latch mechanism is offset between the two generations. The part of the seat in front of the front latching tangs is MUCH longer/wider on the Gen I V Strom seats and is shorter in the back behind the latching mechanism.

I did manage to cut down a Gen I seat to fit on the Gen II Wee. But, it is NOT a viable option and I gave up on it.

Garage
To be clear, it's the 2012 650 that is the odd duck. The 2012 1000 saddle is unchanged. All Vee and Wee seats are interchangeable. Only the Glee is different.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
See https://www.stromtrooper.com/general-...nicknames.html

Thanks for the help guys. Guess I'll have to suck it up and buy a new one - any suggestions besides corbin?

I'm prepping the bike for an alaska tour with my fiance, I'd like to get a back support for the driver (me) that doesn't impede on the passenger seat...

If you're gonna bite the bullet and spend some cash for a seat, might as well get the best in my opinion: Russell All Day. I'm waiting right now for mine to be shipped back from Russell. I should have it within a week to 10 days, can't wait.

I looked at the Russell website - it's hard to tell what it will cost. How much did they charge you for yours? also did you get a dual or a solo?
