Parts Back Order

I ordered a radiator hose PN 17854-44H00 earlier this week and am now told that the part is on back order with an expected ship date of September 15. This seems to me an inordinate amount of time to wait for a part. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Unfortunately no.....I work at a Suzuki dealership and just checked stock with Suzuki. They are correct, on BO. I would have to call Suzuki to get an ETA but if they called and got Sept. 15th that should be accurate. Problem there is if Suzuki does not get it on the 15th it could be longer. That's just an Estimated Time of Arrival, I have seen it take longer than said many times before.

I checked through a dealer to dealer site we use and came up with nothing. If the bike is down because of this your only options are to call every Suzuki dealership around you and physically check stock at those shops for the Suzuki part number, or go to an auto store and see if you can match something up.

Wish I could help more. Sorry.

Get creative and use a radiator hose from the hardware store or auto store...

I (have to) live for that sh#t where I work, some parts take months to get.

There are lots of ways to do without the stock part. What happened to your old radiator hose. Is it fixable? If it has hole or a tear, find a tube with an OD that matches the hose ID, and make an insert with a couple hose clamps. Silicone tape will fix a number of problems.

Even HUGE companies don't stock much anymore. I worked for the Post Office for 35 years and when I retired they had gone to a National stocking system. A few crucial parts were stocked only in a few places and the clerks would be begging for their release form the holding office.
Some parts are only produced in batches based on the need. As a temp measure I'd be at Auto Zone of the like for a radiator hose. Who cares if it has the right bend in an emergency?

Hey,since you work at a dealership do you mind checking on the backorder of top boxes. I've had one on order since I bought the bike back in the middle of May. 2012 Adventure. They keep changing the availability dates. I told my dealer I would be trading mine in before I got the top box, lol.

Ok, after about 15 min on hold with Suzuki (lol) the guys said mid September. That is for the Aluminum box. The thing that stinks with ETA's is that Suzuki gets these from a vendor who makes them for Suzuki, so that vendor told Suzuki mid Sept. If that vendor doesn't come through then Suzuki will get a new ETA. Then you will get a new ETA. lol

It's a viscious circle of waiting. Unfortunately this is the bad part about a new bike, nothing is available when it should be. And that usually goes for most manufacturers. I've been here for 17 years at this dealership and it's the same year after year and we are a 5 line dealer.

I'll make some phone calls for ya and see if I can't get someone at Suzuki that I know to find one in the office somewhere they will give me. lol

Call ronayers.com or BikeBandit.........or Cheapcycleparts.com. I'm always amazed at whet they keep in stock!!

SORRY.............I didn't notice it was for a 2012 model. Ronayers does not list 2012 yet.........not sure about the other two mailorder houses. I doubt Ebay would have anything.......or a Salvage yard.

Parts Back Order

I want to thank each of you that responded to my request for help with this problem:

Earlier today I removed the hose and was able to cut 9/16" from the end which allowed the damaged area to be moved far enough past the hose clamp that a sound seal was achieved. The two bends in the hose together with its length allowed the fit with no noticeable distortion or loading.
