No more lurking....

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone. Without knowing it, you have all convinced me to get the new V-Strom 650 as my first motorcyle (well for street and in a long time).

I can't tell you how many posts and pages I have read, and read again trying to decide everything.

So here is my bike. I just got done putting on a crashbar, side luggage, and rim stripes. I have a riser to work on, but that can wait.

My New Toy. Just 250 miles (of my riding) on it and nothing else.

The work begins. Motech (clearance Twisted Throttle) crash bars, black widow stands (the 6 and 12).

Time for the side racks (sporttour.com). Givi

Luggage on. Just workin a E21 set for now. No big trips near future. Just day stuff, and work.

Finally the tapeworks rim tape is on. I got the reflective Burnt Orange, which is VERY close to stock paint. Of course the flash helps make them glow more.

Still waiting to install Rox 2" riser, Rick's Fork Brace, and one more item I will reveal with a pic once it gets here. A top box will have to wait til my budget catches back up. Man this stuff nickle and dimes a bank account.

Anyways.... Nice to meet you all and thanks for all the great advice over the last couple weeks!!

Looking good Grayle and welcome aboard. Keep in mind you will have to extend the brake lines with the Rox 2 inchers....some folks have lowered the bike to avoid this....

Awesome photos, grats on the new ride. I've been checking out those E21s as well and seeing the photo convinced me they are the right ones to get.

Welcome Grayle, I too waited a long time before buying a "new" bike, I've had tons of used bikes and I simply do not buy new. Well, until I saw this bike, I was on a 2004 DL1000 and knew I loved that bike and the 2012 650 has been even better than I imagined.
Many happy mile I wish for you.

04 DL1000, PCIII, Cee Bailey Shield, Center Stand, Bestem Top Box SOLD.
2012 DL650, Cortech Tank Bag and Tail Bag, Richland fork Brace, 16T front sproket, GPS mount, go-cruise, cramp buster.

Well it was about time--just kidding. Nice bike and I have always liked the orange ( even though mine's black ). Have fun-be careful. And get a skidplate.

You know those side cases can hold beer AND ice, right? Camping the night away...

Where did you find that? I've got "Orange" rim tape on mine, but it doesn't match the Fox Orange very well.

Howdy, and.... YAY!!!

That's my response after beer.

You know, when I first saw the orange color in photos, I instantly wanted a repaint. But the more, and more, and more, and more I look at it, it's starting to grow on me.

Please don't post just to criticize the question. Either you have an answer or you don't.
