Front brake lever is stupid expensive!

One of the first mods I did when I got my bike in March was to drop it while simultaneously backing it out of the garage and pulling the clutch to start it. It slipped out of my hand and went down on the right side. The only damage was the ball on the end of the brake lever broke off. I cleaned it up with the dremel and that was that.

Today I went to the dealer to order the Suzuki hand guards, and since I was there, I figured I might as well get a new brake lever. What is it? $35-$45? Nope, $91 wtf?

I guess I'll make do without the little knobby thing, although I do miss being able to hook my fingers on it, sometimes.

You could try a wreckers ("breakers?") yard. Or perhaps use it as an excuse to get some Pazzos or the like.

I know you can buy a break lever for the older Vstroms on amazon for $14.95. I don't know about 2012 model, but it's worth looking.

It's the same part number as the 2007 and later DL650A so Amazon.com: 07 08 09 Suzuki V-Strom ABS DL650A DL 650 A Brake Lever: Automotive will work for $20.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Don't expect a different outcome with the Suzuki hand guards. They are wind guards at best. To properly guard your levers get something with an aluminum backbone.

Finally, a inversely-accurate, yet ironic misspelling of the word!

That's the only reason I wanted the guards. I wear shorty gloves and the bar angle lets wind blow right up my sleeves. Not a problem on warm days, but riding home after work at night can get chilly.

Thanks for the other tips on cheaper levers. I looked around the aftermarket a little bit, but couldn't find anything available except some dumb looking "dagger style" things.

+1 for the chinese version available on ebay. Mine are the only splash of color on my bike, and I am very happy with my swap out.

Are these the multi-color "click adjustible" levers? Like this listing for a set of them in 8 different colors?

How come the year says "2011-2012"? Are the levers on the 2012 DL650 the same as on the 2011 and earlier models?
