Sasquatch vs Hyperpro vs wait & see....

I hope to be in Idaho soon on a new 2012 wee! While there, I could stop by Jay's shop & get my 2012 shock rebuilt. I could also buy a custom built hyper Pro when I get home from this trip.

Finally, is the stock suspension good enough that I should ride it out and see how it handles?

My hope is to make the strom into a washboard/corrugation chewing machine.

I travel 50% decent tarmac, 20% horrible tarmac, 25% gobbling endless miles of wash boarded gravel and dirt mixed w/some sand and such, and 5% on true 4wd/jeep road terrain. This is almost always with a load. And usually in developing countries.

I am a big guy & carry camping plus pro photo gear.

Need to decide right away.

See Jay. His brain is more important than any hardware.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

An average shock well set up will be better than an expensive shock with so-so setup.

If you can go somewhere, talk to the suspension guy and test it, do that.

When I bought my Hyperpro, it was cheaper than an OEM replacement, and higher quality all around.

Yes, you are correct, but in the end, I have decided to "wait & see."

My reasoning:
1. I can easily get back to Boise, it's only 5 hrs (or an amazing 2 day ride).

2. I need to get luggage, protection, center stand and a few other things more than suspension UG's.

3. And foremost, I want to ride stock for a little while so that I can directly feel the benefits of Jay's work when I upgrade.

I've been pretty happy with the oem shock on the 2012, but it is not nearly as good as the Hyperpro on my '07.

When my oem shock on the '07 self destructed on Rte 630 in New Brunswick in 2008, the quick fix was a new shock and I did not consider rebuilding, nor was Sasquatch's capability to rebuild the 'unrebuildable' oem shock well known at that time. I tossed the oem after comparing it side by side with the Hyperpro.

I'd still go with the Hyperpro based on all the miles I've put on mine, and the fact that NJ is a heck of a lot closer than Idaho, but if Idaho was local, Sasquatch would be a much more viable option for me.
