Glee fork lowers compatibility

Hi all! My Glee was in an accident in February of this year and I just got the insurance stuff taken care of, so I'm setting out to get it fixed up.

The bike was swerved into by a car and the front end is pretty much toast. Both fork tubes are bent (though possibly salvageable?) and one of the fork lowers is snapped in half. See the below video.


I would like to rebuild it with the ABS system intact, obviously. Is there a left fork lower that is compatible with 2012 fork tubes? Can I just get a Wee front end and then move the Glee right fork lower over to that setup so that I can retain the ABS wheel speed monitor? Basically, is there a way for me to take the one good fork lower that I have and move it to an earlier setup, because 2012+ front ends are twice as expensive as 2004-2011 front ends...

I would be reluctant to try and rebuild that bike after the hit you took. You won't know if the triple trees and frame head are bent until you slide straight forks into them.

Wow, that was quite a shot you took. Did you walk away?

The used V-stroms are not that expensive, I suspect you could pick one up pretty reasonably. Did they pay out for the value of the bike? I am all for rebuilding machines that get busted up; I have lost count of the bumpers, fenders and hoods I have replaced on the "Kiddie Kars" after my brood has run into things. That said, there were two of them that were broken enough that I just let them go.

This looks like one that I would let go.

My buddy was riding it at the time. Lady pulled from the #2 to the #1 rapidly and hit him, ejecting him while the bike continued forward until it hit another car. The insurance company paid, but the lady only had $10k in insurance which wasn't enough to cover all the damages so it was a prorated amount. My buddy was taken to a hospital, but had no broken bones (hooray for amazing gear) and just a few bruises.

I have 13 other bikes, including a DL1000 (my daily), so I was hoping to be able to rebuild this one and send it on its way for someone else to enjoy (after I rode it for a month or so to make sure it was safe).

Also, the pictures make the damage look far worse than it really was- here's the bike before the accident. The fairings were removed because the previous owner rode a lot of dirt.

That's true, but it's also part of why I want to find other forks to try in the bike in the first place I do have my old set of XR600R forks that I could try to mount up...

And yeah, John David, there might be frame damage I'm not seeing, 100%. I haven't closely inspected anything yet, just left the bike sitting since the accident until the insurance issue was resolved. Unfortunately, our local neighborhood frame inspection/straightening shop here in Sacramento, The Frame Man, shut down last year :'(

Also, that video makes it look worse than it really was, as the bike had no fairings to begin with.

No, this was a place called The Frame Man. It was right off of business 80 and El Camino in Sacramento, visible from the freeway in big bold letters
