I've been experiencing a mystery with my 2012 Wee - the oil light is coming on and now staying on at speed along with the small oil lamp icon to the right, which is also illuminated.
History - the red oil light began merely as a slight flicker while coming to a stop. I checked the oil level and it was about a half quart low. Added oil to full. Then 200 miles later, flicker at low RPM again. Oil level was still full. Changed the oil and filter. Still happening. All the while I was reading the various threads on the topic here on Stromtrooper. There was no abnormal engine noise at any point so I never felt it was actually a problem with oil pressure. Ultimately found that the bolt holding the ground wire to the oil pressure sensor had simply disappeared. Possibly the rubber boot was keeping the ground wire in place enough to keep the light from being on continuously. Put a new bolt in the ground wire and wala! Problem solved - for 200 miles
The flickering of the oil light began again at low RPM and then even some at speed. Checked the ground wire and it was still firmly in place AND there were still no abnormal sounds coming from the engine. All the while this is over about a 500 miles stretch. I drained the oil again and installed another (used) oil pressure sensor. The problem only got worse to the point the red oil light is now on permanently when running. I finally gave up and took the bike into a local speed shop where I am very comfortable with the owner/mechanic. He has the bike now but has not yet begun to diagnose the problem. Does anyone have any input here?
