Also, my 2016 with 1,150 miles is for sale right now. It was easier for me to get a new bike. I apparently don't have enough posts to use the classifieds. I hope I'm not violating the rules by saying this here, but let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks

Not to worry but you are breaking the rules by posting for sales here but as you now have 22 posts go right ahead and put your bike in the for sale section.
Sorry the V-Strom did not work out for you and I hope that the doctors can help with your OA. Let us know how you get on. Perhaps a V-Strom might be in your future.

Hip arthritis

If you were diagnosed with hip arthritis, think about a hip replacement SOON. I put up with arthritis for a few years until I was unable to ride last season due to significant pain. Lower pegs and a highway bar did not help anymore. Shop for an orthopedic surgeon NOW. Find one that has experience with an anterior approach to hip replacement. This procedure allows for quickest recovery but requires the use of a specialized operating table.

Sorry for breaking the rules. I can remove that post if you would like and I was able to get it posted in the for sale forum. Hopefully my hips will get better and I could return to a V-Strom one day. I definitely enjoyed it when my hips weren't killing me.

My doctor recommended I go see a doctor in Cleveland that performs hip resurfacing. It would put a metal cap on the head of the femur and a metal cup in the hip joint. Supposed to be a quicker recovery time than a full hip replacement and can get back to full activity. I still play hockey and ride motocross, but boy do my hips hurt after haha.

Resurfacing

Since you are young, 35, hip resurfacing is an option. A total hip replacement can always be done later if needed. Since I was 65 at time of surgery, resurfacing was not considered an option. Be sure your surgeon is experienced in this procedure. Don't let it go until you are limping around in pain.
Ask me how I know.

When in doubt, gas it!!!

Oh man, sounds like you had fun. I plan to push it off as long as possible and hope the PT does some good. If the PT doesn't help, I might schedule an appointment with the specialist to get his thoughts. From what I can tell he is experienced. Dr. Peter Brooks at the Cleveland Clinic.
