Glad it is all worked out for you. It is very unusual that the clutch actuating arm had been moved on the splines. I wonder what cause the PO to do that?
Whatever, your clutch has been receiving some abuse and accelerated wear and so I would recommend, next time that you do an oil change, that you grab a new clutch cover gasket as well and do the other part of the clutch adjustment.

Thanks for this thread. I couldn't shift much at all the other day. The clutch wasn't fully pulling all the way. I looked underneath and found the cable was frayed and stretching. How big a job is it to have it replaced? I'm thinking of riding it a few miles in 2nd gear to the local dealership.
