Speedometer Fail

So I had my speedo on my 2014 650 quit working on the way back from the Cache Rally in Colorado. Not sure what caused it but I did ride in a lot of rain from Gunnison to Grand Junction. The first sign of problems was in Grand Junction in the pouring rain when the speedo read 111 mph. Then it started jumping around and I figured the speed sensor was going. So everything else on the dash was working except the speedo. Got to Torrey UT for the night and figured maybe it would dry out. The next morning no difference. So off down UT12 I go, great ride. I had my gps so everything was good. Stopped in Veyo for pie. When I got into AZ i lost my odometer. Pulled over and when I put the bike in neutral the oil light came on, checked the oil and it was fine. When I put the bike in gear the oil light went out. So shorted with the neutral light. Take off, no gas gauge. Long story a little shorter, I made it home to Las Vegas and parked the bike overnight, went through all the connections and even removed the fairing and all wires good. So I ordered the Speedo through Partzilla and it came in 2 weeks, put it in and I now have a low mileage vstrom. Sometimes an old gps comes in handy.

Had the same thing happen earlier this summer. Speedo went crazy, gps acting weird and other stuff. Thought about it all the way home, thinking stator, etc. so what did I do last? Yup, put in a new battery, and yup connections loose.
Good to be lucky sometimes.

How many miles have you put on with the new speedo?

Sneaking through Veyo taking the back way to avoid the Virgin River gorge?
It's a bit out of the way but nicer than 15, fur sure!
