Insurance prices for vstrom 650

Good Morning,

Before I call my insurance company, can anyone give me a average on what you pay for insurance on the 650vstrom? Mine is a 2012...

I have state farm on all my other vehicles and I wanted to see what others were using.

Thanks,

Don

This going to vary a lot by where you are. Here in MI my 2013 costs 350 per year include a mandatory catastrophic claims surcharge on every vehicle of 183. Michigan has very high insurance rates and very generous catastrophic claims payments. Unfortunately on a bike if there is not another vehicle involved the benefits do not apply even though we pay the same as every other insured vehicle on the road.

I changed to Liberty Mutual when we had new younger drivers and saved thousands over SF. YMMV, Some say it pays to shop every 3-4 years. Loyalty is penalized as is excess switching. I started a document with the VINs, DL number, birth dates, coverage. Home, Auto, Boat, Bike full package makes it easy to quote.

Yup much depends on your location and of course age and driving record, I use Geico and am very pleased overall with their service and pricing.

I am also interested in how to handle a fleet of bikes. If I had to pay for 3 or 4 bikes I would not be able buy any oil.

Buying my then new 2012 DL 650 is what prompted me to change insurance companies! At that time I also had a 2004 DL 650, which of course should be pretty much the same bike to insure as far as risks go. Same exact coverage on both......the 2012 was over twice as much money! Not with just that insurance company but others.

I have NO idea why that is.
