Wonder if our U.S. bikes will be included?

Wire chafing under the tank and water in the connectors behind the radiator top shroud are issues world wide on the Vee2. I'd like to see more about where the contamination on the Glee cams occurred. The recalls seem to be only on Australian bikes right now. See the sticky thread in the Australia/New Zealand forum for details. https://www.stromtrooper.com/australi...0a-merged.html

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Tappets wear huh? Hmmm.

The tappet hardening surface may wear due to contamination causing tappet and camshaft wear. In the worst case scenario this may cause the engine to stop running.

New GSXS already has a front brake recall also.

Wires under tank wore through insulation and shorted out the entire dash on my previously owned '07 DL650. That wasn't cheap to have fixed.

I've never heard of that one. It is a problem on the Vee2 and some K4 or K5 Wees had a mis-routed wire bundle under the left side cover that caused a recall from chafing.

Since the DL's don't have tappets, I'm thinking improperly hardened shim buckets is the most likely, the surface starts spalling and the damage spreads. I can't see this being Oz only, but given there are 8 buckets in each bike simply shipping enough bits would be a challenge.

I'm thinking cam lobes and buckets are the parts that can be affected by contamination, maybe by cams not being cleaned well enough after grinding.

Just read that the tappet/cam recall involves wee2s from 2013 to 2015 in Canada. I checked on the Transport Canada website but there's no mention of it yet.

I can't see this not affecting US bikes. Maybe I can get a free valve adjustment out of this.

So all L3 and L4 (2013 and 2014) Glees with under 4000km as well as those with over 4000km having over spec valve clearances are the ones affected by the recall.
