Differences between 2013 DL650ABS and 2015 model

Contemplating whether to pay for new 2015 or save a couple of thousand (!) on a NOS 2013.
Searching here does not give any answer, other than colour change.

Only color change unless opting for the XT model with the beak and spoked wheels.

Is there even a color difference?

That's what I did. When it came time to actually agree to the deal, it turned out there were two bikes available for the same price, a 2014 demo model with 1200 miles on it, or a brand-new 2013 model, still in the box, with literally zero miles.

Figuring that test riders can be louts, I chose the 2013 model.

Thanks, guys.

Off to do battle with the sales shysters tomorrow.
As in: "let me ask my manager if this offer is good, be right back."
reality: Let me go for a coffee and oh, check the offer (which I know will not fly) be back in 20 minutes.

Been there, done that a week ago Monday.

I had a choice of dealers within reasonable driving distance. Called and asked for price. They quoted me $7,100 for a 2014. Did not include tax, license, title.

Another dealer wanted me to "make an offer". Never did. Bad way to buy, great way to sell.

Good Luck finding the bike you want at a price you consider fair.

Check Craigs list in your area too. Not for used bikes but for New Old Stock bikes that dealers want to move. That's how I found my 2014 Vulcan new with 5 miles on it for less than some of the 5 year old used ones were selling for!

And there is a difference in the 2013 blue and the 2015 blue. The 2013 is more like an "electric blue" darker. and the 2015 is more like a pearl/ocean blue. A little lighter. There's a recent thread I started and people posted pics if that helps...

The only drawback of buying a 2013 over the 2015 is that as soon as you drive it off the lot you have a 2 year old bike. Not a deal breaker in my opinion, but if you are the kind that may want to get rid of it in 6 months or a year, you will take a BIG hit. But as long as you keep that in mind when negotiating a buying price, you should be fine.

Definitely something to keep in mind though.

Good advice Bucket. If you are going to keep it it's no big deal. But if you think you might not then it's a different matter.

I just picked up a 2013 DL650 blue. It was an incrate non current with 0 km on the odometer. It came with 3 year warranty and with the money I saved it gives me farkling budget.
