2015 XT beak fit on a 2012

I was curious if anyone has tried to put the new beak on a 2012? I really like the looks and would love to put one on if it would snap into the removed part... what do you all think?

I guess you are technically correct. It would be the beak from the 2015 DL 650 xt

2015 beak retrofit on a 2012

I put one on my '13 and it fits just fine. There's another thread on here somewhere that there has been quite a bit of discussion about this with pictures and feedback on the install.

EDIT: Here's the thread:

Do you have a suzuki part #? That's less than I would have expected for a Suzuki part. Most of their plastic is priced like it's carbon fiber.

The link above for the merged forum and on page 28 of that thread has the parts diagram with all needed parts. You can probably get them for less online but I wanted to support my local dealership.

The factory Suzuki Beak (two pieces) fits, however, to replace the old with the new requires you to disassemble the from fairing. My recommendation is remove the fairing from the bike, do ir in a warm location and take your time. It is not as straight forward as some would make it out to be. The front coloured panel needs to be removed and there are 4 screws that pass through the headlight assembly as well as numerous plastic tabs and velcro that hold it on. If you put too much pressure on way or another the tabs can break. By doing it somewhere warm the material is more forgiving.

Hope this helps

I have been looking at the beak for some time now and finally got around to buying one and installing it. As others have stated, it is a lot of work... not difficult... if you take your time and have an extra set of hands. But the result is well worth the effort!

The beak makes the VStrom looks complete. Now I look at other DL650 L2's and think something missing
