Rostra Wiring Diagnostic LED Stays On

I'm trying to connect a Rostra CC to my 2012 VStrom.

When I put the unit in Diagnostic mode the Red diagnostic LED stays on.
The ON LED will turn on / off when pressed.

The wiring is as follows.

Black CC Unit - Battery GND
Violet CC Unit - Black with White Strip connector for the rear brake lights - I disconnected my LED Tail Lights
Orange CC Unit - Ignored
Gray & Black for Optional Speed Sensor - Ignored
Light Green CC Unit - Ignored
Grey CC Unit - Pink with White Strip in bundle in left front fairing
Blue CC Unit - Brown with Black Strip in bundle in the left fairing
Brown CC Unit - Heated Grip POSITIVE

Grey Switch - Heated Grip Positive
Red Switch - Heated Grip Positive - I originally tried the White with Black strip in the connector for the rear brake lights, but it needs to be 12V Positive.
Black Switch - Heated Grip Negative
Blue Switch - Heated Grip Negative
Pink - Ignored

I used Grey Wolfs mechanical connection. It worked great.

Ideas?

The thing that jumps out at me is Violet CC Unit - Black with White Strip connector for the rear brake lights. That's wrong. Black on the CC unit goes to black on the handlebar switch unit, not ground.

Anyway, I used the diagram at Rostra CC Wiring Diagram but did not use the relays. Not using the orange wire eliminates the unnecessary engage light and the right hand relay. The purple wire needs to be connected to the white wire with a black stripe, not the other way around. That along with only connecting the red and gray wires on the handlebar switch together and to the 4A fuse eliminates the left relay. I think the relay wiring may be wrong anyway.

Thanks I will check it out on Tuesday.

I connected the Black from the CC Unit to the Battery NEG because it came with a lug that just seemed to fit. This is probably the biggest issue.

Now the diagnostic LED will not come on at all.

I checked the voltages at the switch. I get
Red +12V all the time
Dark Green +12V when I press the Set/Coast Button
Yellow +12V when I press the Resume/Accel Button
Brown +12V when I press the On, Set/Coast, Resume/Accel

I also continuity between the switch and the CC Unit and it was good.

I double checked my wiring:

CC Unit
Blue goes to Brown/Black under the left front fairing
Grey goes to Pink/White under the left front fairing
Red/Brown goes to Brown in the Switch
Yellow goes to Yellow in the Switch
Green goes to Green in the Switch
Black goes to Black in the Switch
Violet (or Purple) depending on colors goes to White/Black to the tail lights. The white/black has .1V on at all times, not 0V but this should be OK.
Brown goes to +12V of Heated Grip
Orange not used
Lt Green not used

Switch
Red goes to +12V of Heated Grip
Grey goes to +12V of Heated Grip
White goes to +12V of Heated Grip
Blue goes to Gnd of Heated Grip
Pink not used

Any thoughts?????

Also the ON LED will not light up now. I wonder if grounding through the Heated Grip is not good enough?

White should not be connected to anything. Are you sure the purple connection is to a white wire with a black stripe, not a black wire with a white stripe? Are you using a standard incandescent bulb in the tail like? Does the brake light work?

The diagnostics are working. The issue was grounding. I had to attach the Black wire from the Switch and the Black wire from the CC Unit to the battery ground.

Now I need to do the test drive.

Right. The black wires to ground are on the CCS-100 diagram, but not the one I posted.

Went for the test drive. The unit worked, but around the fifth time of hitting the Resume/Accel button the bike shut off. The Resume/Accel button internally in the switch had come loose. It must have shorted the power to ground. I took the switch apart and repaired the damage. There was no other damage to the electrical system and bike started up.

This is going to be great. I have a trip next week to Blue Ridge mountains and the CC should make the trip more comfortable.
