instrument panel blackout

My instrument panel went blank today (2012 650 vstrom). The Tach doesn't work either nor do the signal lights or brake light. The headlight works. The panel does show when the high beams are on. Other than that...blank. Has anyone had a similar experience? I'm hoping its loose wiring and not something more serious.

Check to see if connections are secure and check under the seat for tight
battery connections. Also make sure you don't have stuff, (tools and whatnot) loose under the seat.

Given I just took off the front of my bike today, it's fresh in my mind.

When checking for connections under the seat and fuses, also check the three connectors in a black rubber/plastic slip cover beside the left fork/behind the left headlight. Check that those are connected properly. Not sure which does what, but those power everything in the dash, headlights, signals, etc...

Thanks everyone. Im not mechanically inclined and had no idea. Turns out it was fuse 15A (signal). I replaced it with the spare and everything seems to work. Not sure what caused it. I have aftermarket handwarmers but didnt use them today; it was 14C In N.B. Now to buy a replacement spare...

Thread revival!

Having the same issue today.
Not sure what is causing it, but the 15A (signal) fuse is blowing immediately after turning key to the ON position.

Looking for other ideas as to cause.
The only other item attached to the turn/brake lights is an AdMore SMT Light Bar (installed last year).

It's grounding out somewhere. hopefully it is not the main wiring harness. There have been some issues.

Success!
Found the issue (12 15a fuses later).

There was a wire for the license plate light that had frayed enough to short out.

Coated it with liquid tape, then wrapped more tape on top. Everything seems to be working good now.

If it happens again, will cut the wires then add shrink tubing.
