ABS Light - Solved
When I bought my 2012 I opted for the extended 5 year warranty so when the ABS light stayed on I took it to my dealer. The code said to replace the $2000 abs unit but when they did the light stayed. Ultimately they had to do old school troubleshooting and found that the wire from the rear sensor was the problem. Since it was warranty work they couldn't just replace the wire, they had to special order the harness. So 2.5 months later everything seems to be working fine. I ride everyday rain or shine so 2.5 months without my bike seemed an eternity but is what it is. My main complaint was that during the entire time they never called me except once they determined it was a wire problem to basically accuse me of doing something to cause it. Never once did they proactively reach out to me to let me know what was going on.
Anyway for those without warranty I suggest bypassing the sensor wires before considering replacing ABS unit.
Needless to say my next bike will bought elsewhere.
